Chapter 8

Early in the morning, another task that Nadia need to work on. An accident happen, a woman who is on the critical condition. Nadia stared at the patient while laying on the rolling bed to the OR, everyone’s getting panic but she is just stood up on her position near at the receptionist. A man who is crying while following the patient maybe he is her husband. Call Professor Nadia. Someone’s voice she heard.

“Professor, you need to follow in the OR.” A nurse said. Nadia, run suddenly through the OR and prepare herself for the surgery.

“What happened to the patient?” she asked and wear the face mask, and hand gloves.

“A car accident happened early in the morning. The patient’s has a hemorrhage on the brain and a blood clot on the left side-brain.”

She check the pulse rate, to see if it’s beating. “Get the ventricular fibrillation. We will going to perform CPR since her pulse is not normal.”

“Here—

“200 joules….” She commanded.

“The blood pressure is 50/30.”

“500 joules….clear.”

“100/150…”

“Okay. Give me some wipes…” She wipe the blood stain on the patient’s head. “A cloth please…” she cover the face with a cloth to perform the surgery. “What time is it?—

“8:30 p.m.”

“We have only thirty minutes to perform the surgery. Let’s prepare ourselves.” She take a deep breath and stared at the patient who is unconscious. Please stay strong we will going to save you. “Give me the scalpel.” She slice the head into nine inches, the blood flows on the head, it flows too much. She got stain on her duster and on her face. “Give me some tissue.” She put it on every side to stop the blood flowing. After she slice the head, she have found out how the brain beats. “Twelve cm. tube, please.” She put the tube on the brain and elevate it through the bag being hanging to able to flow, and avoid blood loss. “I have found already—give me the sanction.” She wash out the blood on the brain to be able to see it clearly. “Too much cloth on her brain, I need the scalpel and the reducer.”

Five hours—after the surgery being finished. The flow of the winds flow by its different direction. Kurt use to visit Nadia on the hospital. Since, she have her rest because of the operation she conducted a while ago. She is on her office, laying on her swivel chair while her foot is held on the table and crossing. “I don’t have problem anymore. Since, Ignacio is not my responsibility. But I have to stay updated to be able to inform Kurt.” She thought.

The door open, Kurt getting inside without knocking it at once. He close it back and lock it like he has an intention. He wink at Nadia that made her act casually. She change position of sitting, she act like being ashamed. “Good Job.” He complimented. “I have heard some rumor outside that you have save another life, right?” he added—

“Yes. A woman who is in critical condition. But I am not happy to it. I always save life and it is not new to me now. Thank you for your compliment.”

“You look like tired today. Are you that tired?” he come closer to Nadia, and massage her shoulder and back. “Let me relieve it, just this way.”

“Why you come here? You don’t have your work today? How about Kylie’s case, did you finish it?”

“Almost, but I need to revise since it is not too strong.”

“I want to meet Liam this time.”

“But, no one are allowed to visit him unless the due process is finished.”

“No. I’m a doctor. Maybe I am allowed to visit him, pretending that I’m going to cure him or check him. Maybe he is not okay right now, especially he spend his time on the ward alone. I just need to talk to him.”

“Okay, just five minutes. I’m going to wait here in your office.”

Nadia stood up, her patient’s daily record as if she will going to check Liam. She open the door quietly and lock it so no one can disturb them. She found out Liam, who was laying on the bed while reading some magazines. “Are you alright? How do you feel right now?”

“Fine—

He stop talking when he look at Nadia’s face. “You? You are Kylie’s friend right? Why are you here? Did you act like a doctor to pretend and be able to hurt me?” he getting mad.

“No, I’m not. Actually, I am a doctor. I didn’t pretend to be a doctor, because no need. You need to shut up your mouth because I’m going to check you.”

“What are you doing here?”

“I just want to talk to you, about you and Kylie. What really happened? I’m just confuse. I need your answer or else I’m not going to leave here.”

“Did you find to trace me?”

“I said no. Why do I need? This ward is protected by CCTV, they will find out if I’m going to hurt you. And I will not do that, either. I don’t want to lose my job, since someone need my help. Answer it now.”

“She’s trying to kill me, that’s all.”

“I know you’re just lying. I know so much Kylie because she is my friend for a long time. She can’t really do it.”

“So, I’m just joking? I’m the victim here and not here. You’re just trying to trap me right?”

“I can do what I want. I can kill you using one piece of needle, make sure no one can trace the cause of your death. Don’t dare to tell to anyone, because you don’t know me yet.” She said, leave Liam alone and slam the door too loud.

Luke asked Nadia to meet tonight at Starbucks Coffee Shop. Nadia wear her white crop top dress, a skinny tattered jeans and a three inch heels. She looks stunning this night, like there is a fabulous event she need to attend. Luke wear also her turtle neck brown jacket. Whatever he will going to wear he still look handsome. Why, they need to meet? Because Luke has his bad news that Nadia must be aware off, before it’s too late.

“You know it’s fun Kylie is with us for friends-date.” She sip her coffee.

“Yeah, but it’s okay. I have something to tell why we meet tonight. Don’t worry, let’s visit her together tomorrow.”

“What is that?” she’s getting curious that made her silent.

“You have to leave Kurt, right now. And forget everything about you and him. Because his girlfriend is coming with you behind.”

“What do you mean?” she fold her coffee, and sip again her coffee normally.

“You have to, before you will get hurt. I’m just trying to protect you.”

“There’s no need to forget everything about us, since we’re just a friend and that’s not bad right?”

“Good. But you need to avoid him.”

“Who is that woman?”

“She is Carrie, a woman that you soaked a coffee on her dress.”

“What?” she got shocked when she remember her mistake. “You know what, it’s expensive than yours.” Carrie said last time.

“Are you alright?” he said, when he seen Nadia who think too deeply. “I’m drowning because of its deep. Did you know her, either?”

“But, I don’t know her name. Just tonight, I get aware of it. Yes, she is stupid. I remember her on how she get mad at me when I soaked coffee on her dress. But actually, it is not too much. Thank you for the information. I’m going to avoid him, if that is a way to avoid conflict.”

“You should, because it’s for your sake.”

“Okay, I’m going to meet Kurt tomorrow. I’m going to tell him, to be aware.”

Nadia, was busy. She have lot of patients today, woman who is pregnant three up to eight months for check-up and for immunization. The immunization was held in 12-ward, since the remaining vacant room. She prepared her things for checking up, and Ana is with her to assist every patients. Ana, they are not too close. Since she is the nurse who is vacant this time. Ana, is thin woman, but beautiful. A curly hair, but not frizzy.

“Ma’am, may I know how months is yours?” she is to the patients who is sitting in front of her table.

“Four months. I feel severe pain in my whole body. I just want to know if it is the effects of being pregnant or not.”

“Did you often feel dizziness?”

“Yes.”

“Actually, it is part of being pregnant. I will prescribed to you, to take a rest every day and it should be adequate to avoid malfunction of the baby. Then, drink eight glasses of water after meal. It because you’re sweating too much. Thank you.”

Next patient to sit in front of her table. She took some interview and give some prescriptions. There are twenty patients this time, she just finish twelve of them. She shook her head when she feel pain on her neck. “Excuse me first.” She said and went out. She went to her office to get some water and take medicine. Since she has medicine she maintained to relieve pain that she always feel.

When she to the hallway, going back to the ward. Someone who called her name who is behind. She turn her head to know it. It’s Kurt, who is smiling and waving at her. After, Luke told her last night. She didn’t even smile and wave back to Kurt.

Kurt went closer to her. “Hey, how are you?” keep on smiling.

“Fine.” Sad on her face being painted.

“What happened to you? Is there something wrong happened between us or you have your problem at me.?” he’s getting curious.

“Please, leave me this time. I am busy.”

“Why? Are you that desperate to reject me?”

“Yes. Because your girlfriend is coming behind us. I just want to leave you, for own sake. I don’t want to hurt you and I don’t to hurt myself.”

“What? What do you mean?” he’s getting curious again.

“Carrie, your girlfriend is coming to get you. Please, Kurt leave me now. Actually, it’s your fault because you didn’t even tell me about your past. So I can avoid you. Just forget me. Forget all of what happened to us. Because I will forget it too.”

Kurt, acted to cry. When Nadia, trying to leave him. He pulled it to him and hug her tightly. “Please don’t leave me. You didn’t even know how much, I love you. Actually, Carrie is not my girlfriend anymore. We’re stopped our relationship for more than a years. Listen to me.”

“No. You’re just fooling me because you know that I am kind of woman that can easily to be fool. Or you just do this because you know I can help your father.”

“NO.” he’s crying right now, and still hug Nadia too tightly.

“What is this mean, Kurt?” a woman voice from behind. Carrie. She’s getting mad and angry looking at them. Like she get want to punch both of them. They are getting shocked. Kurt, wipe his tears on her face and hold Nadia’s hand. “What happened, Kurt?” she added.

“Why are you here?” Kurt calmly replied.

“I’m searching for you—

“For what?” he’s shouted. And it made everyone watch them. They are getting intrigue of what happen. Even the doctors and nurses. “You don’t have to find me at all. Since we’re already done by our relationship. And you are the one who stopped it.” He continue on shouted but he still hold Nadia’s hand. Nadia is getting afraid.

“Why? Because of that girl?” she pointed out Nadia. “A woman who manipulate you, and told you to leave me? How dare you?” she acted to come closer but Kurt block her not to get Nadia. And this is the time they leaving apart.

“You don’t have to blame her. Because it’s my choice to love her than you. Because I can the essence of happiness if I am with her. So, leave now.”

“You both leave. Before I’m going to call a security to get you out.” Nadia said, that made everyone silence. Kurt surprised of what she said. He’s trying to hold Nadia. “Leave now.” She said, and went through her patients who is waiting for her.

Kurt lost his mind. He’s getting irritated to Carrie. That is why he stared at her badly before he leave.

Carrie run after Kurt, who is walking to the parking lot. “Kurt, please wait for me. Please, we need to talk.”

Kurt stop in front of his car. “To talk for what? Carrie, leave me now. I don’t have intention to talk to you—

“But I have an intention to talk to you.” she insisted. “Because of you, I came here to search for you. I regret everything of what I have done before. I came here to ask apology and to create again a relationship.”

“Sorry. I don’t want that.”

“What do you want? To reject my career just to focus for you? Just tell me, because I’m going to do it.”

“I want to leave me alone. And let Nadia and me be together. You have no right to ruin our relationship. Did you forgot already that, with her I can find a true happiness that I can found from you?”

“That’s why I regreted. Don’t worry, I can make you happy more than that.”

“It’s too late, already. We already create our relationship. And don’t want to ruin it because she trust me so much.”

“Is that you want? Well, I will not stop myself to do what is right. I can use to erase her trust to you.”

“Try to do it. If you don’t want to regret later on.” He said, opened his car and shut it close. He drove to fast out from the parking lot. Carrie, cried a lot.

Carrie walk alone the highway, while crying. It’s getting dark, and it’s raining. She don’t have any umbrella to cover herself. After, the incident happened yesterday. Nadia, lost her appetite to smile, and to have fun. There is lot of invitation she receive to her colleagues which to have dinner or drinks but she reject it all. She lock herself on her office. And think of what happen Kurt, after she leave him. She regret why she did it. She keep on thinking to apologize Kurt. But she feel ashamed already. These is her time that she is not busy. She don’t have any patient she going to handle but except those who consult because she is the one who do it.

Someone’s knocking on her door. And it’s Luke, bringing foods for her after knowing that she didn’t eat and forget to eat. “How are you?” Luke smiled at her.

“I’m fine.”

“You’re not fine, actually. You didn’t eat your meals. Why?” he seated in front of her table. Putting all he brings on the table. “I bring foods for you.”

“I don’t have any appetite.”

“No. You should eat. Don’t tend not to eat because it can affect your health. You are a doctor and you should know what are the effects if you don’t eat. Do you want me to eat with you? Or do you want to eat outside and made some fun.”

“Since you are my friend. Let’s have fun outside.”

They went to the restaurant. Who serve delicious foods and dessert. They took a bus instead of bringing their car, to enjoy their day. After they eat. They went to watch circus, and have a ride to different ride.

“It’s fun. I forgot my problem even just a single our.”

“Just always remember, don’t forget to eat and avoid stress. Let your stress problem you and let your problem catching for you.”

“Hahaha… you’re idiot.”

“By the way, tomorrow will be the primary due process of Kylie’s case. I want you to be with me to witness the process. And I want you to cheer up with Kylie to stay strong since her case is confidential.”

“Okay. I’m coming. I will not forget it. Since it is very important.”

“Sure.”

Today, is the primary due process in the court. Nadia went to the hospital to inform everyone that she is not around because she has her important matter that need to attend. She fix herself before she leave. She drove her car to the Hall of Justice. Luke, is calling for her. She answer the phone while driving.

“I’m already her, in the hall. Where are you?”

“I’m on my way through there. Just wait. I’m coming.”

“Faster. The session will be start within thirty minutes.”

“It’s okay. I’ll be there within five minutes.” She hung up the call. And drive fast to the hall.

Before went inside, she make sure first that her car parked safely. She took the stairs because the elevator didn’t function. The court is on the third floor. She run fast to go there, since she has twenty five minutes left.

She meet Carrie outside. Seeing her with fierce look. She stop three meters from Carrie. Carrie walk closer to her with flirtiest walk. “Why are you here?” Carrie said. “Did you went here, to see Kurt? Sorry, because I came first.”

“Sorry, I didn’t came here for him. I came here for my friend.”

“And who’s your friend? Ah…it’s your friend who is criminal, right? Haha…you’re the same.”

“Hey, why are you being like this to me? Last time is not enough for you? What do you mean?”

“I want to revenge, after flirting him.” She slap Nadia’s face.

“It’s enough?”

“I want you to leave, him alone because he is mine.”

“Sorry, Kurt is mine. As what happened last time is just my joke. Because of my pride, I speak all of those. But this time, I want you to know that he is mine. Kurt leave you already. Did you forget already, that he can find his happiness to me. How pity you are bitch.” She’s getting mad and defensive this time.

“How dare you.” she’s trying to slap her again but Nadia stop it.

“Oopps…Do you want to know what happened to us during the time that you are not here? We kissed each other. And we have our nights who is fun and enjoy. He said, I am yummy than yours. Hahaha.” She smiled irriatedly.

Carrie can’t take her emotions anymore, as well as Nadia. That’s why they fighting each other, rolling on the floor hitting each other. Kurt and his friend from the corner, bringing folders that contains all the documents. Run after them, throw the documents on the floor and stop them two who are fighting. Kurt hug Nadia tightly, not to fight back. Then, hiss friend stop Carrie as well.

“Stop it already.” Kurt getting mad.

Nadia, fix herself before she talk. “Carrie, how pity you are. Kurt is the one who choose me, and stop me instead of you. It means you are not special anymore.” She smile irritatedly.

“How dare you.” Carrie try to get off from Kurt friends. Lucky, because he hold it tightly.

“Stop it, already. Brylle, bring Carrie outside, make sure she can’t disturb the session.” Kurt commanded.

“No.” Carrie shouted while trying to escape.

“Wait, just for a while. Let, Carrie face at me seriously.” She smile. “Carrie, I want you to know. How our relationship goes together.” She pulled Kurt to her and kiss him. Not once but repeatedly, to make Carrie jealous.

“How dare you.” Carrie shouted. And Brylle, bring her outside and guard her until the session finish.

Nadia, pushes Kurt out from her. Wipe her lips from kissing him. “Sorry.” She said.

“What do you mean by this? Are you not mad at me anymore? And you will believe me after all?”

“Sorry, I regret everything why I kiss you. I mean, this is the way to bring her out and make her jealous. I just try to defend myself from her.”

“Nadia, let me talk to you.” Kurt trying to approach her, but she keeps on moving not to focus on him.

“Kurt, leave now. All what I say is just joke.”

The bell ringing, a sign to start the session. “The bell is ringing. Good luck.” She went first inside the court. And Kurt fix the documents being scattered on the floor before he went inside.

The judge seated in front of us, then bang the sign to start the session.

“Prosecutor Kurt, from the victim side, and Prosecutor Drake from the suspect side.” The secretary welcome the two prosecutor and ask to come in front to take their vows.

Nadia, is sitting in the chair in the side of Kylie. She saw how Kylie getting nervous and scared. Kylie, stared at them since Nadia is sitting together. They give their gestures as cheering to her but Kylie reject it. She rolled her eyes away from them.

“Where did you came from? Why are you late?” Luke asked.

“It’s traffic outside—

“What happened on your face? Why there is a small wound?” Luke found small wound on Nadia’s chicks.

Nadia, caress it. “I accidentally slip my face on the door of my car.’

“Don’t worry, I will cure it after the session. Just hold on.”

After taking their vows, they went on their different position. Then, the secretary walk on the center and announce the information about the incident.

“The incidents happened three weeks ago. The victim, name Liam Horan who is twenty six years old. And the suspect being mentioned by the victim is Kylie Gaston who is twenty four years old. The incident was happened at Kristine’s Famous Bar, within 8:00 pm. This time, I will give you the testimony from the victim.”

Liam was asked to sit at the center fronting the crowd with Prosecutor Kurt to assist him. “Kindly tell me, what happened that night? And please, let Liam speak first before the interaction.” Kurt said.

“Last time, I did propose to Kylie. I want to marry her because I know she is right for me and we are right to each other. After the proposal, I asked her to have some fun and party in the bar. Then she agree with me. On the bar, where the incident happened. She pinch me a sharp object on my body and that made me fall on the floor. I was too drunk that time since she put something on my wine. I can’t fight back since I was too weak.”

“That’s it?”

“Yes.”

“Okay, everyone heard about what happened and it’s according to the victim. Since he is the one who get involve.”

“Thank you, Prosecutor Kurt.” Kurt went on his sit. “Okay next is in the suspect side. Let hear about her testimony.” Kylie seated as well in front and Prosecutor Drake assist her.
