Chapter 2

The autopsy takes three hours, and then after they have their rest on the visitor’s room. While Nadia is on the testing room, for checking the autopsy. They wait for Nadia, almost twenty minutes. And after Nadia bringing the autopsy result. Kurt was unaware, so he stared at Nadia too badly. Like he feel new to his surroundings.

“Here’s the result.” Nadia strictly replied. And rolled her eyes out from Kurt.

“Thank you so much!” he get the result and checked it all.

“I didn’t modify it. You should be thankful to me, because without me it will not be successful.”

“What do you mean?”

“We didn’t allow some autopsy here, unless without permission on me. Not bad, because I’m the one who perform.”

“Thank you.” Kurt replied. When they act to leave now, Nadia stop them for a while. “Prosecutor Kurt, right?” she asked and pointed at Kurt.

“Yes?” he curiously replied.

“Can we have a talk?”

Kurt easily agreed on Nadia request, so they while walking they are talking. An observation, Kurt is tall than Nadia, even she wear a high heels. A perfect combination, they are perfect together.

“I help you on the autopsy. And everything is fair now.” Nadia said.

“What do you mean?”

“You will stop on arresting or filling some cases against me, and I will help you what you want and what needed you during you investigation.”

“No way!”

“Okay, I’m going to modify the result. And you’ll be accusing the crowd as a failure prosecutor.” They stop for a moment. Kurt stared at her too badly, but Nadia just give her sweet smile. “What do you want?” Nadia added.

“You can’t do this to me!”

“Actually, that is not my fault during the accident. You accidentally bumped on my car.” Crossing her arms and patted her shoulder.

“You are beyond on the speed and that is cause to the accident.”

“Are you sure, I am beyond on the speed? How can you make sure?”

“Because a big impact happened, and it my car damaged.”

“Don’t accuse me if you are not sure.” She tapped on Kurt shoulder. “You have to be careful on what you say. Maybe you go beyond the speed. Because I am the one who is victim and not you. I almost die that time.” She added.

“What do you want?”

“I will not repeat all what I say. And I just want to make a deal.” Nadia, lean her hand in front of Kurt to have a shake hands as a deal. But Kurt, thinking of it. If he will agree the deal they have. “What are you waiting for?” Nadia nodded.

“Deal!” Kurt hold on Nadia’s hand and they have a shake hands.

“Don’t forget! You can leave now, you’re assistant is waiting for you.”

Nadia, was on her patient room. Cleaning all the messing piece around the room. She change the clothes of her patients. Having a lunch together. There’s no emergency this day, and she was able to spend her time with her patient. They having fun is other, telling some jokes. She remember her past time as a child. She was scolded by her mother, because of not following some instruction. She accidentally, destroyed the vase under the cabinet. “Mama, I’m so sorry!” Nadia crying on her bed while she was scolded by her mother. “You need to learn from it” Her mother Elena shouted. Nadia, is a kind of woman who is stubborn. Though she change this time but a little bit stubborn remain. She was traumatized until now. She is choosy, especially what clothes to wear and make-up. But she is not choosy in foods. That’s why, whatever stress and depression she has, she still look gorgeous on it.

“Did you find your man, already?” a girl asked. Rubbing Nadia’s smooth face, with a match blink and twinkle on her eyes.

“What do you mean?” Nadia asked, while continue on curling her patient’s hair.

“You should find you man right now. You are beautiful, and you can find a man who is handsome as well.”

“Not this time!”

“You should!”

“Uhm. I should find some timing! Actually, I try to find some guy but still I didn’t.”

“Don’t worry I can help you! As what my mother said, when a man will kiss you, he will be your man forever.”

“That’s a story, you can predict it.”

“Your heart will choose the better man that will love you.” the girl said, and pointing on Nadia’s chest. Nadia, stop for a moment when she realized as what her patient said. She realized that she should find her man. But how could she find? It is necessary to find a man on time? Or what? Please explained. I am innocent about it.

Kylie, knocking on the door with Professor Luke. Luke bring a basket of fruit, and bouquet of flowers. For what? For Nadia, or for the girl? Luke, glanced around her and give his sweetest smile.

“Who bring you here?” Nadia said, and still remain on her position, sitting beside on her patient.

“I heard that you are in a critical condition because of an accident. Sorry if I was not able to visit because I’m too busy.” Luke said and stand in front of Nadia.

Luke, wearing his formal attire. And a perfect match for engagement. But, he will not confess to Nadia. “I’m alright.” These will be private talk. And they should leave in their room. So, Nadia let Kylie to assist her patient because both of them need to talk privately.

Nadia, bring Luke into her office. Since no one can disturb or hear them on what they are talking about. “You become cool this time. What happened?” Luke said and sitting on the coach still bringing the basket and the bouquet.

“I’m not cool.” She simply replied, and sit on her private swivel chair, leaning on it and crossing her arms.

“I should give it to you!” he give the basket and bouquet but Nadia didn’t receive. So, Luke has no choice but to put it on the table and back on his sit.

“You should mind it. That I almost died that time, because I’m trying to visit you in your place. I called to you but you didn’t answered it. What happened? Maybe you get cooled to me instead of me.” Nadia get irritated.

“I was busy that time. And I regret because I forgot my phone in my house and I was not able to answer it. You’re getting mad?” Luke said. And trying to calm Nadia through his gestures.

“I’m mad because of you! You didn’t even think of me when I was not in condition. Are you my friend?” she said, she almost shed her tears and she became emotional this time.

“That’s not my intention. Forgive me!”

“I forgive almost three times. But it’s already four times. I won’t forgive you this time. Not a friendship over but a cool off. Let me think of it. You can leave now.” Nadia, can’t stop her feelings, so she cry. Luke trying to calm her down but Nadia stop him and force him to leave.

Today, is the primary due process in the court. Kurt is with the victim side and Prosecutor Lee was on the other side who is murderer. But still Lee trying to prove the suspect innocent, and it obviously he is the suspect.

The Judge, banging the wooden gavel as a sign to start the session. First, Kurt is assigned to have an introduction. Kurt bring with him the piece of papers and confidently went in the front.

“December 31. 2017, the crime happened with the time seven thirty in the evening. At Fort Santiago beside the bridge. A woman was murdered with two reasons; was r**e and was tortured. Later, we will find out if it was r**e or tortured using the evidence which an autopsy of the victim’s body. The victim named Elizabeth Young, a twenty-five years old. She had her husband and two children right now who are listening and watching us. This session, the evidence will be revealed. And I promise, that all of the statement is all correct and nothing is wrong. This session is live on the social media, and I am competitive enough and proud.” Kurt said, bowing in front of the judge and went back to his sit. Again, the Judge, asked Prosecutor Lee to have his introduction.

“Edgar Ignacio and Patrick Lara, was being accuse to the crime that they didn’t ever did. Though, everyone knows that they are a robberies in their place but they didn’t ever do a r**e or a tortured. I am Prosecutor Lee, I am truly telling the truth and will prove their innocent. I am competitive that all my statement is correct and nothing is wrong.” Prosecutor Lee, as usual, he bow down in front of the judge and go back on his sit.

The judge bang again the wooden gavel. “Prosecutor Kurt will be the one will elaborate and explain the statement about the case and followed by Prosecutor Lee.” The judge requested Kurt to explain all the evidences in front.

“Two reasons that might be happened to the victim. But according to the autopsy it is both happened to the victim...” everyone shocked as what Kurt said. “…Two suspect who made this and both of them…”Kurt pointed out the two suspect and it made Prosecutor Lee getting mad. “…After they have r**e the victim, they tortured it using a sharp knife and throw it on the river. According to the autopsy, the victim was shoot by the knife on the heart, on stomach and on the head. Ten inches long of the wounds, and it made the victim died. Since the incident happened seven thirty in the evening, the rescue came around nine o’clock and it obviously the victim suffered several pain on her wounds and died. Because it take too long before rescuing her.” Kurt stared at the suspect too badly. Prosecutor Lee, stand to have his debate. “How can you prove that they are murderer?” Prosecutor Lee asked, and threaten Kurt in a way of staring at him too badly.

“We have found three finger-print on the victim’s body. And I recommended to take their handprint. To prove that they did it.” Kurt said, and it made Prosecutor Lee sit down too badly. Mocking his face like he want to punch Prosecutor Kurt. “Everything will be alright after getting their handprint.” Kurt added, and give his smile to Prosecutor Lee that made him get irritated.

The first session is finished, and it will be continue tomorrow as a second session. The due process will be take three days. This time, the two suspect are requested to the hospital to get their handprint. Prosecutor Lee is going them, to make sure that Prosecutor Kurt will not kill them.

“How intelligent you are?” Prosecutor Lee challenge him.

“You should stop it. You can’t do this to me.” Kurt give his stared that can really harm.

“Exactly, you can’t prove that they are really the suspect. Let’s see if the handprints really match.”

“I am proud to tell you, that it will match.”

“Kurt, I say it to you. You should give up now, you can’t handle this with your own.”

“How can you make sure?” Kurt nodded his face and that make Prosecutor Lee irritated.

“Let’s see if you are really competitive enough!”

They are together while having a test on the handprints. The result is given by Prosecutor Kurt since it should be to him as his evidence. And it will be a secret since Prosecutor Lee is with them.

Nadia was on her room, since today is her vacant, she clean her messy room, arrange all the books and things being scattered on the floor. Kylie, was the one who care to her patient and Nadia is free to do her work. While cleaning, something caught her attention. A book below on her narrow bed. She remember that it was her diary. She get it and take some read.

After reading a few lines from it, she realize that she put it on her diary: In the age of twenty five, I should date some man to be my future. I should remember it. She laughed on it, she looks insane this time, she laugh at her own. How she can get over this statement? She wrote it ten years ago and she already forgot about, but when she read it she realize. How pathetic, I am? She said at her own.

Kylie knocking on the door. She quickly hide her book under the foam of her bed. Fixing herself as nothing’s happen. Actually, she wrote it when she’s with Kylie in her room. They have their movie marathon that time since Nadia’s parents are not around. Both of them having fun, except Luke because that time Luke is sick and was not able to come in Nadia’s house.

She open the door, and allowed Kylie to get in. Nadia continue on cleaning while sitting on the coach watching her cleaning. She never mind to help Nadia, she’s just crossing her arms and watch Nadia who is busy. “You change this time. You clean your room already?” Kylie said.

“Actually, I’m too busy and was not able to clean this dorm.” Nadia said and shutting herself down on her bed. “…I’m tired!”

“…Your patient search you, and I told her that you are busy.”

“After one hour, I will be coming to visit her….did you already have her lunch?”

“Yes!—

Something caught on Kylie’s attention. She saw a piece of paper under Nadia’s table. She get it and take some read. These was the sticky note together with the basket and bouquet that Luke given last time. “Gosh, you didn’t ever respond on it?” Kylie said, and trying to give the sticky note to Nadia.

“I don’t want to respond. Actually, I never read it. By the way what was written?”

“Luke said, that tomorrow will be his sixth anniversary as a doctor. He invited us to go there.”

“I’m busy, I’m must be with my patient than him.”

“What happened to you? Are you mad at him because he was not able to come when you are in a critical condition? And because of him you almost died?” Kylie irritated and getting mad to Nadia.

“Yes. Because of him, I almost died. And I asked him a space to think of it. It doesn’t mean that our friendship is over. I just asked him a space.”

“I pity you so much, Nadia. Because of it you give up everything for almost twenty five years? You should think of it.”

“I already think of it, and that was I think.” Nadia getting mad already, she almost shout at Kylie.

“You change already. Maybe your brain was affected on the accident. Maybe you should admit it to the doctor so they will be able to cure it.”

“I’m not insane as you think. This is what I want, Kylie.”

“If that is what you want. I reject it all.” Kylie said, and she leave out Nadia. Slam the door too hard.

I didn’t change maybe you change, instead of me.

Kylie and Nadia’s relationship becomes cool and awkward. Though, they are together in a work but they didn’t mind to talk and asked each other question. Just like nothing’s happen to them, which they do not know each other. It’s true that Nadia, change already. I do not know what the reason behind on it. She almost broke two hearts. Maybe she need to be cured.

Nadia bring her patient with a wheelchair because it was not able to walk normally due to a paralyzed. She bring it to the rooftop to have some fresh air. There, they take a few minutes to think of what to do.

“Ate Nadia, you look not feeling well this time. What happened?” a girl asked and hold Nadia’s wrist that make her face at her patient.

“I’m alright. I just remember everything. You should not mind it.”

“I feel on your pulse that you are not feeling well.”

“Are you serious? I didn’t eat something that makes me weak or not feeling well. Maybe it’s because of my stress. Just ignore it.”

“Actually, I have something to tell you.” the girl said, it’s getting sad.

“What do you mean?—

“I think, I need to offer my life to God. I am now weak, and I want to die.” The girl said that caught on Nadia’s attention. Nadia kneeled down in front of the girl’s front. Holding its hands and caress its face.

“You should not say it. I can cure you. Two days left and the surgery will be perform. Just hold on.” Nadia almost shed her tears but she force herself not to cry.

“You should not do it, I requested you. You should stop it, since few minutes left I’m dying. That’s why I asked you to go here because I want to smell some fresh air before I died.”

“Stop it. Listen to me, the surgery is approaching. Don’t leave you mother, just hold. I promise to you that this operation will be successful.”

“Take care of my mother and tell them that I love them both. And promise me you will find your man already.” The girl getting weak, and she’s getting hard to breathe. And Nadia panic about it. She quickly bring it to ICU to check its pulse. While going downstairs, she checked its pulse and it’s getting weak. She run fast while pushing the wheel chair through the ICU. There, she called some doctor to perform the surgery even if it will be on other days. But her patient is dying and she should perform the surgery this time. She requested some nurse to prepare all the equipment’s to be use.

She wear her doctor’s suit, hair net, hand gloves and a face mask. She went in the ICU where the other doctor’s is waiting for her. She quickly wear off the patient’s duster. And get the sharp knife. The patient has brain cancer. She don’t have a choice but to slice the patient head. But before that, she injected the patient with anesthesia and a liquid sleeping potion. She slice the patient head, into ten inches, and she was able to see the brain fully. The brain beats as normal, and she was shocked when it getting and weak and its stop on beating. “The sanction, faster!” she said. And push the sanction inside the brain. “…Ninety five degree please.” Push again the sanction inside to bring back the beat of the brain.

It takes a few minutes before the beat of the brain bring to normal. “Give me the sharp knife and a puller.” She said, and start slicing the brain. After she open the brain she use the monitor to search the tumor inside the brain because she was not able to see it on her eyes because if full of bloods. She find the tumor at corner ventricle near the veins of the brain. “Gotcha…the scissor please.” She requested. She cut the tumor and too much blood being waste. So, the need to stop it. “…Gosh….I need some clip…” she put the clip on the veins to stop the bleeding. “…Give me the anesthesia…” she requested. She pour the anesthesia on brain to wash the bloods. She stop cleaning the brain when she feel that the patient stop on breathing. She have to perform CPR on it. “Fifty degree please.” She shouted, the push. “….Sixty degree…push.”…….”Seventy degree….push…..” Then the pulse of the patients goes back but not too normal. Then, she stitches the brain and as well as the head. AFTER, she covered it with bandage. She rolled the bandage around the head. Since the surgery is done, they bring back the patient into its room.

Nadia, has a blood stained on her doctor’s suit. She was on the rooftop to take some fresh air. She realized that the operation takes six hours. And it’s successful. In the rooftop, she shed her tears and continue on sobbing, because she can’t imagine that she save another life especially that life is on her friend. As usual, she wrote it on her diary every time when there is a memories that don’t need to forget.

Kylie, did not approach him to congratulate or even to have a compliments. They are not in a good situation this time. Actually, during the operation Kylie is not around maybe it has an important matter. She didn’t ever find it or asked when she was doing. There will be a good time. And everyone will be alright after. I need to find timing, and good condition on it. We have been for too long, especially a years and we should cherish it.

Nadia was invited by her co-doctors and nurse to go out to have some dinner for having another thanksgiving. They are in Golden Restaurant, which can be located near Fort Santiago River. An overlooking view which the whole cities can be seen. Since, it’s evening. They are able to watch the dancing light fountain and every lights around the city.

Nadia drank herself, as number reason which she want to forgot her last time were having conflict on her friends. As usual, when Nadia get drunk her face goes reddish like she has her allergy. But it’s normal for everyone except for those who didn’t know her. You are not a true friend of mine. She heard some rumored around her. Since she’s drunk she was not able to recognize who are around her and recognize her friends. But that voice seems like Kylies voice. Kylie is not with them, so she try to glance around to find Kylie but she didn’t find her. We should stop it. She can’t take it anymore. So she scream out loud and all of people around her, stared at her and shocked of what happen. They think that Nadia is insane, already. That is why some are laughing and gossiping about her.

Prosecutor Kurt is already inside the session hall, while waiting the other side and with the two suspect. He spend his twenty minutes of waiting, then they are coming. Prosecutor Lee give his bad smile and look to Kurt but Kurt just ignore it and give his sweetest smile at all.

The judge bang the wooden gavel as a start of the second day session. The secretary ask to elaborate about the flow of the meeting last session.

“Last session, it takes one hour. And Prosecutor Kurt was able to explained about the incidents happened and Prosecutor Lee explained as well that the two suspect being appointed are both innocent. This time will be the second session, and this will be the time to explain and know by many that these two suspect are truly the murderer or not. Thank you!” the secretary went back and sit beside the judge chair. Then, the judge bang the wooden gavel under table and the first explanation was given by both Prosecutor Lee and Kurt for their debate.

Prosecutor Lee and Kurt went in the front and having a vow before everything else. The Prosecutor Kurt come to speak first. “I have already get the evidence which is the handprints of both suspect. Then, it is lucky for me that I have get the CCTV footage during the incident happened.” Kurt glance around and turn on the monitor to show the CCTV footage. Everyone are shocked after seeing the CCTV footage. But it is not too clear for them to persuade everyone that they are really the suspect.

“It is not clear. We’re not persuade on that evidence. And it’s obviously said that they are just following the victim and it doesn’t show that they tortured the victim.” Prosecutor Lee have a fierce and rolled his eyes too bad.

“These handprints.” He revealed the piece of paper which the result of the handprints. “…I’m going to read to be clear to everyone…” he glance before he read it. “The handprints by the two suspect and the handprints was on the victim’s body are all match. Obviously, they killed the victim.” He is competitive enough, so he show his proud smile to everyone. He wink on the victim’s family and relatives. Prosecutor Lee get irritated, turn his head around like he find ways to get over this time.

“You didn’t modify it?” Prosecutor Lee asked seriously.

“No, or you want to take it again?” he challenge Prosecutor Lee. “Judge, I already explain the truth and hoping you will consider my statement.” Kurt bow down in front and went back to his sit. Prosecutor Lee irritated and hesitating went back to his sit. Kurt saw the two suspect can’t settle themselves. Like they almost cried because obviously they will be imprison after this session, according to the agreement.

After the session, Kurt went to his office. Wear off his Prosecutor suit and have sit on his swivel chair, turn it around while biting his ball-pen. After he put his foots under his table and crossing it. He take a deep sighed.

Assistant Yap and Secretary Erica startled him, they are bringing one layer of cake as a thanksgiving for the job well done. He just smiled and blow the candle under the cake, it’s like a birthday but is wasn’t. That is why he remember, his college time on how he was celebrated his birthday alone and only with his friends not on his family. Because that time he was not on his house because he leave having hatred on his father.
