"You shouldn't be out here all by yourself you know…” a deep husky voice cut through her thoughts and made her alarmed. Capri panicked.
Her sob hitched in her throat when she lifted her head.
Her beautiful face, glimmering in the moonlight was soaked in tears, a type that would make any stranger want to comfort her and wipe her tears away. She sniffed.
He was there.
So close that she felt his warmth, it was as if he was a ball of lit coal, giving her heat that she would only get from the fireplace in her mother's house.
His knee nearly brushed hers, a tall, devastatingly handsome stranger sitting beside, quietly, allowing her to shatter into a tiny million pieces as if he had always belonged there.
For a second her heart forgot how to beat, not because he took her breath away but because there she sat, by an unknown stranger pouring her pain out silently.
He didn't look like he was here to judge, or like he was here to make fun of her for being fooled but he looked like he understood her and could actually share the weight of the pain, and betrayal.
The world was silent. It was late. But she could hear noise, maybe the sound of her own blood rushing through her veins.
Then it began to make sense to her again.
A strange man, whom she didn't know had been sitting next to her for who knows how long.
Fear gripped her hard. All the nice thoughts were replaced with negative ones.
A sharp gasp tore from her lips. Panic spiked through her skin, hot and furious.
Her body jolted back on instinct, fingers clutching at her clothes as though he might vanish—or worse, reach for her.
The vulnerability of being caught in tears made the shock burn even deeper, humiliation tangling with alarm.
Her eyes flew over his face, but only his blonde hair could be seen vividly for it glistered in the moonlight too.
For a moment she could only stare, trying to process what was on her mind, breath trembling, uncertain of what move to make next, whether
leave or say something bewildered, aware that this stranger had just stepped into the most fragile moment of her life.
She tucked her hair behind her ears and shifted to one edge of the bench, almost falling off but braced herself.
“Why…what do you want?” She croaked. Her voice was deep, from weeping. The effect she hated.
" You are not safe all alone out here by this time.” He retorted strongly.
His voice has this kind of strength exuding from it. She could feel it.
“I'm with someone." She lied and he returned it with a sharp glance that ripped the truth out of her throat.
“ Fine but you know you can't harm me right?"
“ I don't have time for that. I'm not like him."
It jabbed her skin and ripped through her bones. Her fingers trembled.
He had seen everything or perhaps overheard it.
Either way ,he knew what had happened. Her lips quivered.
“ Who are you?"
He smirked. And he stood up to stretch. That is when she could have his stature in full glare of her eyes.
He was so huge and tall.
The kind of body that rugby players possessed. He looked like one of Celin Dion's faithful bodyguards.
His hair fell down to his neck. It was a deep shade of blonde.
Almost as if it were golden. She stared. He noticed and threw his hood on.
“ Where are you headed to?"
“ Who are you?" She was not having any of his games. All of a sudden Capri had grown very defensive.
“I'm your friend okay. I won't use it against you." He laughed subtly.
Then he wore a look that was kind and soft.
Different from his earlier looks. It softened the tension and changed the atmosphere.
