Felix's POV
"Your breakfast is ready sir".... Clara called to me from the first floor. She is my favourite kitchen staff and the only one that has the right to call me up for anything.
I made my way downstairs, finished up my food and got ready for work.
"Thanks for the meal Clara... it was very nice", I complimented her.
"Don't tell me you're leaving without greeting your mother"....that was my mum and she just won't allow me to leave every morning without our kissing ritual.
"I'm getting too old for this Mum!". I replied in the hope that she'll let me be, but as usual, it never works.
"You're never too old baby, I'll keep doing this till you get married". She gave me her usual reply.
"Ok Mum, You win as always". I replied and gave her the usual hugging and kissing that had become a ritual for us, marriage being my only escape.
"Marriage?..., Not me". I thought to myself. The mere thought of it sucks to me, so I think I'll stick with this ritual until at least I find another escape medium.
"You shouldn't keep Franca waiting for too long, you people should get married already". Mum continued with her charade.
"She is very nice and kind, asides being very beautiful too".
"Not this morning Mum!..., I have a lot on my schedule today". I retorted, getting pissed already.
"We'll talk about this when you're back child". She finally said, leaving me to attend to her table plants which she tends to like children.
"Goodbye, Mum". I didn't receive any answer, accepted my fate and left for work.
"Hmmm… Franca", I thought to myself on the way to work.
Franca was truly a very beautiful girl but not a nice or kind person, at least not to me. Our relationship was an arranged one between our fathers with the aim of fostering the bond between each family. Both Fathers' are now dead but their decisions still stand, though to my utmost displeasure. Franca is a constant cheat and liar but finds it easy to pretend and be the good girl in front of my mum.
"I would rather die single than marry Franca". I thought to myself, not realizing I said that out to my driver's hearing.
"You can't say that sir… sometimes you find your true love in the least expected places".
"How sure can you be?... anyways, thanks for the comforting words". I snickered and put an end to the conversation.
Love was the least important of my worries right now, all I need is an escape from spending the rest of my life with Franca.
"Good morning boss, I have News Sir". Isabella, my personal assistant said to me as soon as I stepped foot into the office. My personal assistant is very diligent, and hardworking and doesn't miss deadlines on work, but I always find it weird that a guy would bear such a feminine name.
"Ok... report to my office now". I replied.
"Finrich Group of Companies joined the list of applicants for the BIG PROJECT Sir". Isabella said when he entered my office, handing me some documents.
BIG PROJECT has always been an event hosted by Marks and Meyers Industries where other upcoming potential companies compete for the contract worth billions, and the company with the best idea and prospect of profit maximization is picked.
"That's so weird, they've always been part of the sponsors concerning this project, what happened to them?". I wondered, going through the documents as if clues to my questions would be there.
"I was surprised too, I couldn't deny them the slot since they followed the due application process, Sir".
"So, who did they choose to represent them", I asked.
"It's a lady named Juan sir, though, she doesn't look capable of this kind of project".
"Juan… the name sounds familiar, can I get a picture?".
"Here you go, sir". Isabella handed me another set of documents containing photographic details of the applicants.
"What!...it's this Juan?". I said as soon as I laid my eyes on her image.
"Is anything the problem?". Isabella asked.
"No, it's fine…You can go back to work". I said and dismissed him.
"Alex must have another agenda up his sleeves", I thought as I went over the documents again.
I'll have to be patient and see how things turn out.
"But why must he involve Juan in this..?". I kept thinking to myself.
Juan's P.O.V.
"I have been working so hard on this project for a while now and I'm not sure about it anymore". I complained to my best friend, Priscilla, as soon as I entered her condo. I had come for the solace of sorts from the issues I had with work.
Priscilla was employed in our company two years ago, She doesn't relate to other people in the company and just minds her business. We took an instant liking to each other when we realized we both have the habit of sneaking outside the office for some McDonald's and Ice-cream just before closing hours.
"C'mon, it's you Juan!, you can pull anything off". She replied.
"I'm not so confident about this babes" I pouted, pulling a sad face.
"Nope baby...you know that face won't work on me, besides, you're the best brain and shot we've got for this project, I'm rooting for you pretty face". She said, straightening her hair and getting ready for a party.
"Now, away from work and its hassles, I think I'm going to dress you up for this partyyyy".She continued in an excited voice.
"No way!.. I need to work my way through this problem". I countered.
Partying was the last thing on my mind to do at this moment, it wasn't the ideas or skills to win the project that really bugged me, it was the fact that I discovered that our company has been sponsors for this same event we're now applicants after going through old documents. I just couldn't wrap my head around the sudden change.
"All work and no play… make Juan a dull girl". Priscilla said amidst laughter pulling me out of my thoughts.
"I think the Party won't be a bad idea after all".I finally said, surrendering to Priscilla.
"Yesssss!!!". Priscilla shouted in victory.
"I just let you win this time baby". I countered, not willing to give her total credit for her claimed victory.
"A is calling, A is calling". Priscilla's phone rang, putting a stop to our victory fight.
"Hmm..., who is A this time babe?". I asked, eager to hear the gist about another love prey from her, but didn't receive an immediate answer. Priscilla had a sad look and just continued to stare at her phone.
"Priscillaaaa", I called out to gain her attention.
"Oh...!, Let's be on our way Juan". She replied.
"Are you sure everything is fine?..., and You haven't answered my question". I said to her, concerned about the mood change.
"Erm..., A is just a guy I met at the club, everything is fine". She managed to say.
"Let's go and have fun babe". She said through forced smiles.
I knew she was hiding something from me but decided it was not yet time to pester her about it.
Priscilla's P.O.V
It was the weekend and Juan had come visiting as usual, She was the exact character that Alex had described her to be before I joined 'The Finrich Group of Companies. Our common habit of sneaking out to buy McDonald's and Ice-cream before closing hours made us bond faster and become best friends.
"I have been working so hard on this project for a while now and I'm not sure about it anymore". Juan complained as soon as she entered my condo, flopping on the couch.
"C'mon, it's you Juan!, you can pull anything off". I replied.
"I'm not so confident about this babes", She said, pouting and pulling a sad face towards me.
"Nope baby...., you know that face won't work on me, besides, you're the best brain and shot we've got for this project, I'm rooting for you, pretty face". I replied to her while straightening my hair in readiness for a party.
I really don't get why she is stressing about this project anyways, it's not like it's the money Alex is after in the first place, all that hassle over a document right?
"Now, away from work and its hassles, I think I'm going to dress you up for this partyyyy". I continued excitedly in an attempt to stop all these talks about work and spike some fun interest in her.
"No way!... I need to work my way through this problem". She countered.
"All work and no play..., makes Juan a dull girl". I said amidst laughter, not giving up on my party mission yet.
"I think the party won't be a bad idea after all". Juan said, finally conceding to my idea for fun.
"Yesss!!!". I shouted in victory, happy that convincing her came a bit easy for me.
"I just let you win this time baby". She countered, not willing to accept defeat or give me totally on my victory.
"A is calling, A is calling", my phone rang out, putting a stop to our little victory game fight.
"Not this time, why is Alex calling again, He has been very demanding these past days". I thought to myself while staring at the phone, unsure of picking up in Juan's presence.
"Priscillaaaa!!!". Juan's voice shoved me out of my thoughts, the look of worry and concern clearly written on her face.
"Oh...! Let's be on our way Juan". I replied.
"Are you sure everything is fine..., and you haven't answered my question?". She asked with concern.
"What question!... Oh, I think I remember her asking who A was to me", I thought to myself.
"Erm… A is just a guy I met at the club, everything is fine". I managed to say.
"Let's go and have fun babe". I continued, forcing out a smile to stop her from asking further questions.
"Alex really needs to learn how to leave me in the right situations". I thought to myself as we got on our way to the Party.
