Chapter 3
Annie stayed rooted on her spot almost breathless, and her eyes were still wide in disbelief.
The lovemakers weren’t disturbed, and laid on the King-sized bed.
“Mate!” She shouted breathlessly, and the sound of her voice this time startled the two love birds.
When they looked up, they saw Annie at the door.
Annie was stupefied as she realized he was Grey, heir to the throne, and she was fated to him.
Grey was absolutely the most attractive man she’d ever seen, heavily built, with curly black hair and deep-set blue eyes.
Even the pack maids didn’t do justice when gossiping about his gorgeousness, he looks like a Greek god!
Grey, on the other hand, was taken aback, and his pupils dilated in displeasure.
His fated mate is a f*****g maid!
“What is a maid doing here without my permit?” He demanded, his tone laced with annoyance.
“Maybe she wants to join the show?” The Lady beside him joined in with a mocking giggle, deepening Annie’s heartbreak.
Beads of sweat formed on Annie’s forehead, and her palms grew clammy.
“Is this a joke?” Grey huffed, “Don't tell me you're here because of the mate bond, I will never accept a low maid like you.”
He was extremely irritated, was this some sort of joke the moon goddess was pulling? She fated him to a low omega, a low pathetic maid.
Staring at the runt in front of him, he could smell her loneliness and weakness from her. She's a nobody and will never match his league.
“W-we are fated, you won't reject the bond would you?” Annie forced the words out, trembling.
“Are you f*****g with me?” Grey sneered and he shook his head in disbelief. “We can never be mates either will you be my Luna, you are not my type.”
“W-what?” Annie choked on her spit, his next words sent her shrinking.
“Do you think I would want to be with a pathetic omega like you? You are undeserving of my pack! You f*****g have no rank, no background, you're just a useless maid!” Grey spat.
Annie’s lips quivered, the back of her eyes burned with tears, and her hands fisted. His words were hurtful, it was like a knife piercing into her heart.
Maybe it was the mate bond because just the sheer look at another woman in the arms of her supposed mate was a greater pain than she’d ever felt before.
“I alpha Grey reject you, worthless runt —what's your name?” Grey paused, his voice commanding as he raised a brow.
Annie was undecided to speak, but his Alpha commands made her submit. “A-Annie.”
“I alpha Grey, reject you, Annie, as my possible mate and Luna of my pack!” Grey rejected her.
The solemn vow of rejection left Annie in excruciating pain as if a physical blow had struck her. She clutched her chest, gasping for breath, unable to comprehend the extent of the rejection she had just experienced.
“Ahhh,” she wailed, kneeling on the floor as the world flashed through her eyes.
The man she had believed was her fated mate had coldly severed their bond, leaving her feeling utterly shattered.
“Get out!” Grey growled thunderously, his voice shaking the entire room to its bottom.
Annie was still in pang, her nose bleeding, her head lightheaded as she struggled to stand on her feet.
“Leave this place, b***h!” Helena cursed, grabbed the flower vase, and threw it at her.
The vase pierced into Annie’s skin but the pain was nothing compared to what she was feeling right now at that moment.
Annie held the wall for support as she staggered out of the room, her steps were unstable.
Once she was outside Grey’s chamber, Annie stumbled through the corridor, her mind clouded by the emotional agony of Grey’s rejection.
She had no sense of direction, and it felt like she was lost in a labyrinth of despair as she found herself in an unfamiliar hallway.
Annie didn’t stop for a second as she continued to walk, wanting the pain in her heart to stop as she held her chest.
Why moon goddess! Why did she pair her with someone as heartless like him?!
The anguish that Annie felt after Grey’s rejection was beyond anything she had ever imagined. It was as though her heart had been shattered into a million pieces, and she had been left with a gaping, painful void.
She’d fled from the royal chamber, her steps frantic, her mind clouded by the heartache.
After a while, the pain began to ebb, and her senses returned.
“W-where am I?” Annie found herself lost in the pack. Her surroundings seemed unfamiliar and disorienting. She didn’t know where she was or how she had ended up there.
Having no choice, she simply spun with the hope of finding her way back. Annie wandered through the echoing hallways, desperate to find a way out.
As she continued to search for an exit, a sudden cry reached her ears, echoing from a nearby room.
“What’s that?” Her curiosity was piqued, and Annie approached the room, the cries growing louder and more distressing.
Annie saw a room that was slightly ajar and she cautiously pushed open the door and entered, her eyes widened as she saw the scene before her!
An enormous man, covered in rags and with a crazed look in his eyes, held a trembling maid in his grasp.
The maid’s eyes met Annie’s, and she begged for help, terror etched across her face.
“Please, please help me!” the maid implored.
The situation was tense, and Annie knew she had to act carefully. She took a cautious step forward, her voice soothing. “Hey, stay calm.”
“Do something I beg of you, or he will kill me!” The maid was frantic, the fear visible in her eyes.
The moment the man’s gaze locked onto Annie, he seemed momentarily startled.
In Annie’s view, he bore a strange resemblance to Grey.
Strangely the man’s features gradually softened as his gaze focused on Annie, his eyes filled with disbelief.
He mumbled her name, “Shila?”
“Shila?” Annie was taken aback and she became bewildered by the name, unsure why he had called her that.
And before she could react, the madman crazily lunged forward and enveloped her in a desperate hug, his grip surprisingly gentle.
“Huh!” Annie gasped aloud and her eyes widened incredulously.
Meanwhile, the maid who had witnessed this astonishing encounter was stunned and she rushed out to alert the pack’s elders.
In the blink of an eye, the maids and the pack elders arrived and hurried into the room, expecting a dangerous situation. However, to their shock, they found the once-crazed man now sober, holding Annie as if she were the most delicate treasure.
The room was filled with a mix of shock, confusion, and relief.
Annie was dazed, staring confusingly as he called her continuously, “Shila,”
Who is Shila?
