Kaelan's words struck like thunder.

Before the shock could reach the air, I shot my hand up, covering his mouth. My eyes darted around but saw empty hallway, and no witnesses. Relief washed briefly, then I leaned close, whispering harshly.
"Keep your voice down, fool. Do you want the entire Sanctum to hear?"
His jaw tensed beneath my palm. Slowly, I lowered my hand, keeping my eyes locked on his. Then, without waiting, I grabbed his wrist and pulled.
