The Paris Debarkation

444 Words
The tires of the custom Gulfstream G650 screeched smoothly against the rain-slicked tarmac of Paris Le Bourget Airport. It was exactly four o'clock in the morning local time, but the pre-dawn darkness of the private airfield was completely obliterated by the intense, flashing white lights of European paparazzi lenses. The French media had been tracking the flight coordinates since the aircraft cleared New York airspace. The global financial columns were calling it the arrival of the New World Dynasty. Inside the cabin, Alexander stood tall as his personal security detail lined up by the exit door. He adjusted the heavy platinum cuffs of his black dress shirt, his sharp, commanding features completely unphased by the chaotic media circus waiting just outside the aircraft's hull. He turned his head to look at Elena, his dark eyes instantly softening with a fierce, protective warmth. She stood beside him, effortlessly elegant in a structured, cream wool coat draped over her shoulders, her designer instincts already analyzing the mood of the city. "The French press handles high society a bit differently than the New York columns, Mrs. Knight," Alexander murmured, his deep baritone unusually smooth in the quiet cabin. He stepped closer, his large, warm hand settling firmly against the small of her back. "They don't care about our trading volumes. They care about our vulnerabilities." Elena looked up into his intense gaze, a confident, street-smart smirk playing on her lips. "Then they’re going to be incredibly disappointed, Mr. Knight. Because we don't have any." Alexander growled softly in approval, a dark, possessive glint flashing in his eyes. "Let's show them how an empire moves." The heavy hydraulic doors of the jet swung open, inviting the crisp, chilly Parisian morning air into the cabin. The moment Alexander stepped onto the air-stairs, shielding Elena completely from the flashing cameras with his towering frame, the shouting of the international reporters erupted into a frenzy. "Monsieur Knight! Is it true the Sterling Initiative plans to buy out the historic Parisian design sectors?" "Madame Knight! Look over here! Is the Paris penthouse truly a fifty-fifty marital asset?" Alexander didn't answer a single question. His grip on Elena’s waist remained unyielding, guiding her swiftly down the stairs and directly into the waiting sanctuary of a sleek, armored matte-black Mercedes-Maybach. The door closed with a heavy, soundproof thud, instantly silencing the screaming press. As the luxury vehicle accelerated smoothly toward the heart of the city, Elena leaned her head back against the leather headrest, her fingers tangling into Alexander’s tight grip. The ground had officially been broken on international soil. The New York corporate wars were over, but the global conquest had just begun.
