"Are you hearing me?"
It took a moment for me to realize Natalie was speaking to me. I looked down at the backpack she was handing to me and nodded before taking it. "I'm hearing you."
She looked at me strangely for a moment. "We need to move quickly Ruby. I was saying there are tunnels under the house for situations like this. We'll be using them." She bent down to zip up her backpack.
"Yeah, I heard you," I replied.
