Ruby Falling asleep again had been hard. I had lain in bed on my back with my sheets up to my chin, but my eyes were trained on my door, wondering if at any moment Xavier would burst in to confront me for snooping around last night. I had seen something I shouldn’t have, that was very clear. My brain kept replaying him reaching into that man's chest as easily as if it was butter and his hand was a knife. He had seemed indifferent, almost as if he was doing a mundane task like buttering his bread, not taking a life.
