We left at dawn after burying all the men I lost. Being raided by those vampires last night had ruined my plans. All I had to do now was help Ruby with finding this Presley person, and my part in this mess would be over.
Good men... I had lost good men.
I clenched my fists as, even now, her scent licked at my nostrils. When night fell, we'd be attacked again, no doubt. There was no hiding for her anymore, not while she smelled like a walking candy.
"When you guys escaped from Xavier's pack, you masked your scents somehow. Can't you do that now with Ruby?" I asked Xavier and Axel.
Ruby turned around to look at me. "It doesn't work on me anymore. We tried."
