Chapter 11 Cheleas's POV

1290 Words
I woke quietly and crept out of the room. Adam was still sleeping soundly, and I didn't want my restlessness to wake him. I needed some air. Using magic to dress myself as I walked down the stairs to the front door, my mind was a while of old memories from Natassa's days. For some reason all my memories of any encounter I ever had with Uncle Hade's was now on a reel in my mind. Hade's was a tall looming figure, his eyes black like the night sky, his skin pale. His head was bald, and his mouth was always stretched into some sort of evil wicked grin. The way he walked was almost as if he was gliding. Even back then he gave me shivers just like he does now, reliving these memories. I hadn't encountered him loads, not like Arakas. But the times that I had was enough. Stepping outside, I was distracted and lost in memory, so it took me a moment to realize I was not alone. I heard steps coming from behind me and when I turned I saw red and yellow glowing eyes in the shadows between my home and Lisa and Killans. I felt my heart start to race, but then out walked Dante and Darius. Straight away though, I felt something off. Something just wasn't sitting right in my stomach. Dante smiled " Couldn't sleep ? " He asked. I shook my head and forced a smile back, trying to figure out why I felt off. " No not really could you two not either ? " I asked. Darius shook his head. " No so we went for a run " he explained why they were out. " Where are Anya and Sophie ? " I asked, my eyes skating across to their houses. Dante watched where I looked, then looked too. " Sleeping " he stated simply. I nodded , a shiver running through me despite the air here being warm. Dante took a step closer and I found myself taking a step back instinctively. He had never made me feel uncomfortable, so why now ? " Want us to walk with you ? " he asked , but already I was shaking my head no. Instead I decided to listen to my instinct I used my magic to send Arakas a magical call, he would hear me calling his name. Then I quickly linked with Adam, " Adam wake up " I stated , then answered Dante. " No, that's OK, thank you , I just need to clear my thoughts. I'd do that best without company " I said out loud. When I was just finishing, Adam answered me. " Baby, where are you ? " He asked through our link. " Outside, please do me a favor. Go see if Darius and Dante are in their beds. Do it quietly. I think there is someone here acting as them. If they are, get everyone out here sneakily. If these are not them, we could use them to gain knowledge " I told Adam. " I am here " Araka's voice said past my ear, like the wind that blew past, then it was gone. But he was here somewhere watching, which made me feel more confident. " They sense off" he said, catching what I was meaning straight away. " We will just walk behind you, you know, for protection " Darius added. " They were in their beds, baby, we are all coming to you now. Whoever you're talking to isn't them " Adam states, confirming my suspicion. " Actually, yeah sure, I am just going to go walk in those hills there if you want to come. Good idea " I smiled genuinely at them. I wanted to get them away from the houses. There were too many places they could run off to here , too many dark shadows and gaps between the homes. I needed them out in the open. Whoever these two were, they were definitely something to do with my uncle. The one claiming to be Dante nodded, and then slyly looked at the one claiming to be Darius with a smug look. Whoever my uncle had sent were idiots. They weren't selling this well. I acted as if I had not seen the victorious smug look and turned my back on them , a bold move. But one I felt comfortable doing, knowing I had the back-up I needed surrounding me, lurking in the shadows. How had they not sensed the danger they now had surrounding them? They must be some low-level demons or something. I felt the moment they had us surrounded. I moved us through the small village we had created out into the open, which was both dangerous and for the best. Dangerous because my backup couldn't hide out here, but I don't plan on going too far anyway. I walked past the last house, then walked a few more steps, sensing them lurking behind me. I spun on my heels and smiled at them. Keeping their attention on me. " Where did the two of you run ? " I asked. They stuttered to a stop, and both of them eyed me. " Just around" fake Darius said, eyeing me suspiciously. I hummed and looked around. I opened up my senses and tried to sense just who or should I say what they are. But I couldn't sense much, just that they didn't feel right. " You know I haven't explored much yet, so I was hoping you could point me in the right direction for a good view. " I looked them dead in the eye. I could see them becoming fidgety. I saw a flash of something behind them. I planned to let the rest handle this. These weren't my uncle's monsters, just a couple of minions. Plus, I felt I really needed to take my mate's advice and not take everything on my own shoulders. I had help, and I had to accept it. " Over there is alright " Fake Dante stated, and his attempt at being Dante was laughable. Dante carries himself with class; he just sloppily pointed in any direction. " Hmmm " I said fake looking as I saw another flash run around the back of them. " You see, I don't think I will walk that way. I went that way the other day and there wasn't much to see at all. The real view is right that way " I pointed behind them. They both turned behind them and I watched in amusement as they stiffened the real Dante and Darius stood there , eyes blazing with anger. Then surrounded them from the back, my brother and mate appeared, followed by pretty much all the men. Circling them like they were prey. " You got this gentleman ? " I asked, feeling quite sleepy now. The adrenaline was wearing off. " We sure do, baby, go get some rest ", Adam threw over his shoulder. They hadn't bothered any of the girls by the looks of it. They were more than likely soundly sleeping in their beds, which sounds appealing to me now. " Well, now I am closer. I know that stench. Loma and Kal long time no see " my brother mused to them. They looked back at him, not fully turning and trusting the real pair standing in front of them. " Arakas" one hissed as I passed. I watched as their figures changed and in their place stood two ugly-looking creatures. Orcs, I mused to myself. They have little power, but not much. My brother and the rest could definitely handle them.
