ZAYNX'S POV
We arrived at dark hollow pack, just as the evening shadows began to stretch across the land. It had been a long day and a quiet ride back and I still can't figure out what just happened earlier. I glanced beside me, and she was unconscious, her face was pale and looked broken.
The guards jumped down from the chariot first and opened the chariot door,I stepped out slowly, my eyes drifting to the girl who slumped beside me.
Just then, I signaled the guards."Take her to the east wing. The guest room should be ready by now."
They nodded and carefully lifted her.
"Call the medic for her" I added. "Make sure she lacks nothing and she's given everything she needs, tell the maids to clean her up and feed her well... And also don't hesitate to tell me anything if at all they is a problem or if she wakes up."
They all chorused "yes my lord" and rushed off without question.
I watched them take her into my estate. I couldn't help but wonder what the hell I had just done, why I did what I did, I don't even know her name but I knew how she looked when she collapsed, the trauma, the betrayal in her eyes and she needed help.

The next morning, after a restless night filled with thoughts I tried to push away, I found myself back in my study, poured myself a glass of red wine and stared out the window staring at the vast forest as I sip the red wine.
A knock came... it is lewis, my beta, but he's like a brother to me .
"Come in" I called.
"My lord, she is awake" Lewis said.
I did not respond but I could feel his eyes watching for an order or explanation but I had none.
"My lord", he said again but this time more carefully. "Forgive me for over stepping but you defied alpha Eric, brought her here, risked your warriors to save her".
"I know"
Lewis approached slowly, lowering his voice. "But why? What's your intention towards her."
I hesitated but I had to tell him. "To be honest, I don't know," I admitted quietly. "Something about her feels strange to me. She just remind me of someone ."
Lewis raised an eye brow in curiosity "your late wife?"
I sighed and took a sip of wine. "Maybe "
Lewis studied me for a moment after glancing at me then he gave a slow nod. "The council is already whispering and wants an answer. A lone female, no pack, no mate, they are ...."
"I will deal with the council " I interrupted.
"Okay my lord". He looked at me bowed and left.
Later, one of the maids came in. "she's refusing to eat and won't speak to us" She said.
"Okay you can go " I ordered.
I headed towards her room to check up on her. I opened the door without knocking , she was sitting upright in the bed , looking pale , shattered .
I glanced at her . " I was told you refused to eat ," I said, keeping my tone calm .
" That is because I don't want anything ," she muttered with her eyes facing down.
"But you need to eat so that you can take your medicine " I added.
" why am I here? " she asked, while still facing down.
" Because I couldn't let you die "
Just then she raised her eye brows at me, there was fear in her eyes, but also confusion written all over her. She looked at me surprised and like she wasn't sure if I was her savior or something worse.
"Lord Zaynx? " She gazed in shock, "you saved me? " she said lowering her voice .
"Yes... I did " I replied
" why? " she looked at me in curiosity, waiting for me to explain.
I didn't know how or what to answer to that. I walked closer , sitting on the edge of the chair near her bed. " I don't know why but one thing is that I couldn't stand watching you die "
She furrowed her brows in confusion . " you don't even know me , and I have got nothing to give "
"yes I don't know you, but .... I just " I said looking at her eyes without knowing what else to say.
"you are known to be cruel ... that you kill anyone who enters your territory uninvited. But you saved me " she said lowering her voice.
I chuckled, though there was no humor in it " people say a lot of things but some of them are true why some are not ."
Her fingers played with the blanket as her voice grew faint " then why didnt you kill me ?"
I sat there looking at her speechless, I couldn't let her know that I feel this unexplained attraction towards her so I had to do something.
I stood up, walked over to the table where the untouched food and medicine sat. " why didn't you eat? "
" Am not hungry "
" you need to take your medicine "
" I am not taking anything , just let me be " she grumbled, looking away .
"Aiight just take your drugs " I said, knowing fully well that she won't take it.
She gazed at me in silence and turned away.
I had to do something, without thinking I picked up the pill, leaning closer to her. " Then take it from me"
She blinked, looking at me surprised.
"What?"
"If you won't take it yourself, then take it from my lips"
I didn't know what triggered me to say it, maybe it was the fire in her eyes, maybe it was the pull I felt every time I looked at her, whatever it was I just couldn't control myself .
She stared at me, stunned. I expected her to protest, slap me, push me away . But she didn't, instead she was looking at me curiously.
I stepped closer, placed the pill between my lips looking at her eyes as it was locked with mine.
She looked conflicted, furious and yet something kept her still, just then, she leaned in slowly looking at me.
My wolf stirred uneasily, reacting to her closeness.
When her lips touched mine something surged through me, I felt cold inside me I felt tether, I just couldn't explain how I felt but am sure I haven't felt that way in a long time.
The pill passed between us , her lips and eyes was still locked with mine.
We stared at each other in stunned silence.
Just then I felt a sudden rush, I realized what I have done and I pulled back immediately, I rose and turned towards the door.
"Take your food and Rest" I said gruffly. "You will need your strength" and I left without looking back.
