The Egyptians believed a lunar eclipse was caused by a sow swallowing the moon. I’d read that other ancient tribes thought demons ate the moon, but that if enough stones were thrown at the sky, the moon would return. What fascinated me was the blood. We were expecting a blood red moon during the upcoming eclipse. The moon would be visible for an hour at midnight.
