When Thea met his icy blue eyes, her wolf instantly claimed him as their mate. She was so shocked that she physically jumped and looked away. When she looked back, he was gone.
Find him! Jade, her wolf, shouted at her.
She ran, as fast and as hard as she could. When she crossed the boarder to her pack's territory, she shifted for the first time. It was the worst pain she had ever felt, she thought that she had broken every bone in her entire body at the same time. Jade pushed her through it though, they had to find their mate. As soon as it was over, Thea got up and kept running.
Where was he?, she wondered. She hadn't been close enough to smell him and she hadn't seen which way he had gone. How would she ever be able to track him? Jade kept pulling her to go one direction and then the next, she didn't know what else to do so she let her take control. When they reached a small stream, she looked down into the water at her reflection, seeing her wolf for the first time. While her frame was on the smaller side, matching her human form, she was almost scary looking. Her fur was as dark as the night itself, her eyes were such a bright green that they almost seemed to glow, with monstrous teeth lining her lips. Thea was already exhausted from the run and she didn't know how far from home she really was, so she shifted back to rest awhile by the stream.
Before she knew it she had fallen asleep. She awoke to the feeling of a snout sniffing her hair. She didn't know where she was or what was this close to her. For fear of her life, she laid as still as she could and pretended to still be sleeping. When she thought it had left, she slowly sat up, but soon realized that she was very very wrong.
The biggest red wolf she had ever seen was sitting less then six feet from her. It's eyes were as close to black as they could be and they were looking directly at her. In her panic, she hadn't realized that her wolf was as calm as she could be and was even trying to get closer to this huge beast.
Mate! Jade screamed. When she couldn't get Thea to move, she growled, regaining her attention. Slowly, she moved closer to the wolf. When she was within a foot of him, she reached out and very carefully touched the side of his face.
