(Brookes p.o.v)
Saturday/ Larwson's Residence - 6:30 pm
The air was thick with laughter and music, the sound of chatter blending with the bass thumping through the walls. The house was packed with bodies, each person adding to the vibrant energy. My parents had decided to host a house party for the celebration of the company growing and expanding to a location.
The car we had recently just sold, was sold to an investor who decided to invest more in our company and help us out a bit.
"Well if it isn't my fav..."
My grandma had come up to me wrapping her arms around me, she covered my face in kisses.
"Goodness you're getting old!" She smiled while I laughed nervously. She patted my shoulders and gave me one more embrace.
"Aha...aha..." I laughed then turned to go find Sanai who was sitting and playing uno with Melody.
I had pulled up a chair to the table and sat my drink down watching as the two competitively slapped cards down on the table.
"Just accept your fate Mel..." Sanai stated. Nora had gritted her teeth together.
Sanai had put down a draw four and had then smirked at Melody.
"f**k this..." She muttered sitting her cards down in defeat, Sanai had just laughed at her teasing her about the win.
"You've finally accepted your fate." Sanai replied. Melody rolled her eyes then got up from the table. She walked over towards the crowd disappearing into it.
"Enjoying the victory hm?" I asked. Sanai nodded shifting around in her seat.
Nothing but the sounds of the laughter in the background, two of us had just sat there looking at the deck of uno cards then back at each other.
I was about to say something to Sanai, but I was interrupted by my father who had some up next to me, the investor beside him.
"This is my daughter who found the car for us..." he replied, patting my back repeatedly, the investor was tall, maybe in his early thirties. He wore a very formal suit and he looked like he was really strict with fitness in his life.
He had held his hand out to shake mines.
"Nice to meet you Brooke, I'm Seth..." he replied while I shook his sweaty palm. Ew.
"Hi...." I started awkwardly. His scent smells like mixed coulonge and cigarettes which is a very weird combination in my eyes.
He had looked back over at my father and started to walk away with him. I turned my attention to face Sanai who seemed extremely anxious.
"What's up...?" I asked while she fiddled with her fingers. She rocked back, and forth in her seat, unable to keep still.
"Sanai...?"
She had rubbed her eyes looking back at me once again.
"What are you so anxious about...?" I questioned but she shrugged.
"I don't know I just have this bad feeling in my gut—"
I turned the opposite direction of all the partying and dancing people seeing a group of men in a dark reserved corner of the backyard. I had watched as my father was gripped up by his collar and dragged alongside the group in the direction of the front of the house. I started to get up when I felt someone grab my shoulder. It was the investor guy from earlier.
I looked at his face. The investor had a wide grin on his face, he pulled out his phone and brought it up to his ear. I tried my best to make out what he was saying but I heard nothing. He was whispering to low.
Nothing but red and blue lights outside the front of the house. The police had bursted through the back door and escorted everyone out so they could search the area.
Apparently we had a noise complaint from one of the neighbors. that's what they say.
The officers were thorough in their search, combing through every room and corner of the house. I had scratched my head trying to wrap my head about what was going on.
What were they looking for?
I shifted my gaze back to the crowd and tried looking for the investor but found no sign of him.
I decided to stay with Sanai and Melody for the evening since being at my house would be too much for me, and also since they were investigating whatever was going on.
"Did you know anyone weird that is associated with your dad?" Sanai asked tilting her head but I had tried to change the subject. I was more focused on the scenario with my dad. I Stood up from the table and went to grab my phone, since I left it inside,
What if he did associate himself with not the "weird" people but the wrong people?
What if that investor isn't who he says he is?
