(Sanai's p.o.v) Monday | 10:30 am Residence The sound of my phone ringing had jolted me awake, I had reached over towards my nightstand and quickly answered the phone. "Hello...?" "Nia? You up?" It was Melody. I had sat up clearing my throat. "Hey, what's up? Why are you calling me so early?" I mumbled between yawns. She had shuffled around a bit before speaking. "I Don't know, I just..I thought about you." I had stretched myself awake sitting the phone down beside me and decided to make my bed since it was already up. It was unusual for Melody to be up this early or stay awake until this hour. It worried me a bit but I decided not to think about it too much. "You sure?" I placed the phone up towards my ear, I started straightening up my room in the process, picking up clothes and things that were out of the ordinary. "I mean, I could sleep, but I just wanted to talk to you" "Is there something you wanna talk about?" Melody paused for a long while, she then sighed before speaking once again. "Could I stop by maybe?" I chuckled a bit before heading downstairs. "Sure, Just let me know when you're on the way" "Thanks Nia, I'll be over in a bit, maybe another hour." I had said goodbye and hung up the phone, confused on why she wanted to come over so early, sure I didn't mind the company and I was sure my mother didn't care since she was rarely home. I was off today for work so I decided to spare a couple minutes of my morning taking a walk around the neighborhood. Part of me was thankful that Melody had woken me up so early, however I still felt a little drowsy. It's not actually early, I'm just dramatic about it. By the time I had gotten back home I saw Melody pull up in front of the house. I headed over towards the porch and sat down on the new seats my mother had just bought. She always talked about them and how she really liked the chairs along with the new comforters she had gotten with them. She locked the doors to her car and walked up towards the porch taking a seat next to me. I could tell she didn't sleep much last night. "So, what was it that you wanted to chat about?" She looked off to the side a bit, She couldn't seem to look at me. "Did you do something? Did someone say something to you?" I met Melody through Jordyn, we talked a lot about the real stuff that usually goes on, nothing all too much. I usually think they're decent conversations She herself was a little rebellious like Jordyn was, though when she needed to backup she normally did. Melody was quiet for a couple more moments before she spoke. "Nah nah, no one did anything really, I was just...thinking." I scratched the back of my head turning to look at her, I rested my face and folded my arms. "Melody." She cut me off mid sentence. "Can we talk about it inside?" she asked as she started grabbing her things standing up. The both of us headed inside and had placed our things down. Melody had sat her keys on the table beside the door, She had placed her shoes near the door and so did I. Melody rubbed her shoulders a bit heading over towards the couch. "If you want, I can turn off the air." Melody nodded her head grabbing a blanket and wrapping it around her. I walked over sitting beside her in the process. "So...?" Melody had taken the blanket off her upper half, she seemed nervous the more questions I asked her. She had scrunched her eyes moving a piece of hair out my face, she then placed a hand on my cheek. I knew at times she was never really good with words. I could slowly feel my heart rate increasing. She had moved her hand around my waist, I wrapped my arms around her neck. What the f**k is going on. She leaned in towards me, her lips inches from mine. I had gotten lost in her gaze, my eyes moved from her face to her lips then back towards her face. She then let go and removed her hand from my face. There was an awkward silence between us, I was stuck in a daze, my mind running miles a minute. The same feeling I felt with Deja, was how I felt with Melody. "I'm sorry—" We scooted away from each other awkwardly. She had wrapped herself in the blanket staring off into the distance. I wasn't sure how to feel about the whole thing. It all felt weird but good. I just couldn't understand it. "Sorry about that Nia.." She leaned back against the couch, her body still wrapped in the blanket. The air suddenly felt colder, I had a sudden urge to lean against her for warmth but I decided not to. I couldn't seem to shake the feeling off my lips. "No, No It's fine, I just you know... need time to think." Melody nodded her head, the silence filled the air, nothing but the sound of breathing and the faint air conditioning. I shifted around awkwardly before Melody spoke. "I didn't mean to wake you up for this." "No really Mel, it's cool" She had chuckled a bit before turning to face me. I'm starting to question if feeling nervous like this is normal. "Does your mom still make those cookies she used to bake for us..?" Melody asked, pushing the blanket off her and standing up. I rolled my eyes playfully, getting up with her and motioning her to follow me into the kitchen. "I think she made some the other day." Melody had given me a curt smile before I opened the pantry door. I attempted to reach the glassed jar of cookies but I couldn't seem to grasp it. Melody had approached me from behind. She used one hand to grab my waist, she then reached her hand grabbing the glass jar of cookies then backing away from me quickly taking off the lid. I stood there dumbfounded by her actions, I barely had an appetite anymore. She stuffed a cookie in her mouth before turning over towards me, she reached for another and held it out for me. "Want one?" "I'm Fine." For the rest of the morning she decided to stay for another hour or so. We spent it playing video games, a couple card games and a quick game of uno, I beat her a couple times, and happened to only beat me once. The both of us had eaten the jar of cookies. "Let your mom know to definitely make more. They're good as shit." Melody replied using a napkin to wipe the excess chocolate off her fingers. "I got work in a bit though so I'm gonna head out." Melody had gotten up and put her napkin in the trash, she walked over towards the door following behind her. She had put on her shoes and grabbed her car keys. She turned to look over at me for a bit, snickering a little. "We need to call more often, you think?" "I could agree." I chuckled a little, she gave me a curt smile in return. "I'll definitely give you a call, alright?" I answered while she started out the door closing the door behind her. I watched her leave then walked back over towards the couch sitting down, I rested my eyes for a moment until I had gotten a message from Sean. [ Sms ] Hey, are you free this evening? Shit..
