Chapter four

920 Words
“Mr Locke” the voice called again. Grayson moved away from Brielle's legs and Brielle quickly just down. She took a deep breath, adjusting the hem of her skirt and smoothing her hair. Her cheeks were still flushed, and every nerve in her body tingled from what had just happened. She couldn’t believe how reckless she had been… or how utterly consumed she was by him. “Open the door” Mr Grayson commanded and sat on his chair. Brielle opened it and a tall, impeccably dressed man stepped in. Mr. Will, Grayson’s former assistant, carried a stack of folders and a calm, professional air that immediately made Brielle feel small and inexperienced. “Good morning sir” he dropped the folders and bowed to Mr Locke who only gave him a wave, his full focus on the files before him. Brielle was amazed at how Grayson had smoothly switched back to his strict, unconcerned self like he wasn't in between her legs touching and kissing her some seconds ago. “Good morning, Brielle,” Will said, voice smooth, controlled. “I’m Will. Mr Locke asked me to guide you today—teach you everything you need to know about the handover process and client files.” Grayson’s voice cut in, crisp and authoritative: “Will, make sure she knows it all. I’ll speak with her shortly. Go now.” “Yes, sir,” Will replied, giving Brielle a polite nod before moving toward the door. The moment the door clicked shut behind him, Grayson’s presence loomed just behind her again. His dark eyes locked onto hers, unyielding, and Brielle felt her stomach flip. Before she could even step back, he moved closer, pinning her lightly against the wall. “You think you can get away that easily?” he murmured, his lips close to her ear. A shiver ran down her spine. “Next time…” he whispered, low and deliberate, “…you won’t be so lucky.” Brielle’s breath caught. Her knees weakened, her heart hammering, her mind spinning with desire and disbelief. She could feel the heat of his body, smell the faint scent of him that lingered in the air. He stepped back, smirking, and with one last lingering glance, left her reeling. Brielle almost stumbled as she turned, pressing a hand to her chest to steady herself. She exhaled shakily aand rushed out the door, trying desperately to focus on work. Will spoke and spoke but she wasn't listening, her mind drifted far from her “Focus, Brielle. You can’t let him see you like this,” she muttered under her breath. But every word Will had said earlier about procedures, handovers, and client files faded into the background. All she could remember was the press of his body, the whispered threat, the way he had teased her. “Brielle,” Will’s voice cut through her thoughts, calm and steady, “here’s how we handle these files and the client handover. Signatures go here, documents here, and always confirm delivery receipts.” “Yes… right,” she said, faking concentration, her fingers fidgeting with the papers. She kept imagining Grayson leaning over her shoulder, his hand brushing hers, his eyes dark with hunger. “You okay?” Will asked, noticing her distracted state. “You seem… a little… preoccupied.” Brielle forced a smile. “Yes… just… taking it all in.” Her voice trembled slightly, betraying her thoughts. “Can I ask you a question?” Brielle said quietly “Of course, is there anything you are finding difficult to understand?” “No— no. It's just — ermm…did Mr Grayson —fire you?” She stuttered Will let out a low hearty laugh. “Mr Locke might seem cruel and heartless but he's actually a good person . So…no, I was assigned to the branch in Argentina. They need extra hands there.” “Okay, good to know” she breathe a sign of relief . “As long as you do your job well and not cross boundaries, you will be fine” Will said. “A lot of female workers were sacked for trying to flirt with him. He hates it”. “Cross boundaries? I think I already did that. Flirt? Well he did see me touching myself while moaning his name…so why would he employ me” Brielle thought to herself. Minutes passed, filled with the rustle of papers, instructions from Will, and the occasional echo of Grayson’s footsteps outside. Every time the floorboards creaked, her heart skipped a beat. Finally, Will finished the handover. “That’s everything for now. I’ll check in later, but remember the key steps—keep organized and never leave anything out of place.” Brielle nodded, though her mind was still elsewhere, replaying every teasing glance and touch from earlier. She tried to focus on filing the last set of documents, heart racing, fingers trembling. Then, a shadow fell across her desk. She looked up—and froze. Grayson was standing there, close enough that she could feel the weight of him, the heat radiating from his presence. “Brielle,” he said, tone clipped but charged, every word sending shivers down her spine, “as soon as you’re done with this, report to my office. Alone.” Alone. The single word made her stomach tighten, her pulse skyrocket. She bit her lip, barely able to meet his g aze, knowing every inch of her body was already betraying her.
