CHAPTER FIVE - AUGUST, 1991
The first day of August saw another development in our relationship which uplifted my spirits. That was the first day on which Carol allowed me to telephone her again. It would have to be late in the evening when the children were in bed. Carol was in bed herself when I phoned and we had a good conversation in which we arranged a date to see each other.
I had booked into a hotel on the outskirts of Chester and, although she would not be able to stay overnight, Carol would have dinner with me and stay as late as she could.
