We were all asked to assemble in the dining room to receive our certificates. All twelve students from the two groups were waiting, somewhat nervously, for the presentation to start. Amanda would say a few words about each person in turn and then present them with their certificate. As everyone applauded, the student would give Amanda a kiss of gratitude on the cheek. She went through this for the other group first and then called each of my group next. I realised that she was calling all the women first, which, although quite correct, meant that I would be last. Since I was, by nature, a shy person, I was apprehensive about being last.
