BY THE TIME ANETRA looked in on her again, Daine and Stacia were awake and bouncing on the beds. At their mother’s appearance, however, they quit to eagerly share with her their discovery of their sister’s face in the newspapers.
“Look, Mom! Look, Thomi’s in here! But she don’t wanna see!” Stacia patted her mother’s face, making her look.
Daine pointed to another photo. “Daddy touchesth your hair like thisth, too, huh, Mom? But doesth Stephan kissth Thomi like Daddy kissthes you? Doesth he?”
Reading Thomi’s look correctly, Anetra answered, “I’m sure he’s tried! Here, quit that! You’re going to hop right out the window if you’re not careful! Look, why don’t you two hop downstairs and get some breakfast before Lyndsay quits making pancakes?”
