Chapter 6We ate. Take-out burgers and potato wedges that Jeff ran out for. He hadn’t been impressed by my offer of Ramen noodles in a cup and toast with jam. And we drank—a dark, creamy beer that foamed when we popped the tab and activated the widget inside the can, which was also Jeff’s treat. It had not a bad weekend for me: free food, beer, and s*x. What was also nice, maybe even nicer, was the relaxed way all of it was handled. We didn’t race to pick up and toss out the empty takeout containers the moment we were finished eating, or to wipe the table and drape the wet cloth over the faucet just so.
