Chapter 8I left Jeff a note and my key since I only had one. Then I added a P.S. to the bottom of the note, making sure he knew that I would kick his ass if I got home at four-thirty, and I was locked out of my apartment. I work from seven to four, in a factory that sells machined pipe and fittings. I am their resident mechanic. I would like to be able to tell you I was the Millwright, or the Internal Repair Specialist, or Shop Repair Foreman, but I was just the mechanic. It even says that on my paystub, right beside the tiny little dollar amount they pay me to do it. I realize that most people like their day to go smoothly. Easy-peasy, lemon squeezy. Not me.
