Chapter five : dangerous desire

459 Words
adrian tried not to look at her again. tried being the important word. because every single time his eyes moved in her direction, something about her pulled his attention too easily. maybe it was the curves. the soft shape of her body under those fitted jeans and cropped sweater. the kind of body that made a man notice first before remembering he probably shouldn’t. or maybe it was her smile. that easy laugh she kept throwing at vivian’s ridiculous jokes like she wasn’t even aware of how attractive she looked doing something so simple. his jaw tightened slightly. dangerous. that was the first real thought that crossed his mind when he looked at her properly. beautiful face. full lips. soft skin. pretty eyes. and those curves. christ. his gaze dropped once before he forced himself to look away again. because no matter how attractive she was, she was still vivian’s friend. too young. too off-limits. his phone buzzed again with another business message, dragging him back to reality immediately. meetings. calls. things that actually mattered. before he could reply, vivian suddenly dropped onto the seat beside him dramatically. “dad.” adrian looked at her calmly. “that tone usually means you want something.” “wow. you know me so well.” “unfortunately.” vivian grinned before leaning against the couch. “i need you at school next week.” “for?” “presentation.” he raised an eyebrow slightly. “you’re asking me or informing me?” “both.” “vivian.” “please,” she dragged out dramatically. “you missed the last one.” “I was in Tokyo.” “exactly. terrible parenting.” adrian sighed quietly while she continued talking nonstop. “it’s important this time. and before you say you’re busy, i already know you’re busy. you’re always busy. just act surprised and say yes.” that made sofia laugh softly from across the room. adrian’s eyes moved toward her automatically again. big mistake. because now she was smiling at him too. warm. amused. pretty enough to ruin his concentration all over again. “see?” vivian pointed immediately. “sofia agrees with me.” “i didn’t say anything,” sofia replied, still smiling. “your face said enough.” adrian shook his head lightly before looking back at his daughter. “what day?” vivian’s face brightened immediately. “thursday.” “i’ll try.” “no. not i’ll try.” “vivian.” “dad.” he stared at her for a second before exhaling softly. “fine. i’ll be there.” vivian gasped dramatically. “oh my god. sofia, witness this moment.” “you’re doing too much.” “no, this is history.”
