Mulrooney sprinted as fast as he could. His heart pounded in his chest as dribbles of sweat ran down his muscular neck. When he lunged and stretched his arm forward, he felt his leg buckle. “Fuh-uck!” he yelled as his abdomen smacked the floor. He heard the ball land one foot beyond where he lay. He looked up to see Officer Kate Axberg prancing around the racquetball court, arms raised in a victory dance.
