Lauren sat in the back of a taxi and looked out at the brilliant Miami sun before checking her watch. 10:30 A.M. It was time. Lauren knew what she had to do. She took out a hair clip and distractedly piled her hair loosely atop her head, allowing several strands to fall down around her face.
As the taxi cruised along the row of restaurants and night clubs, Lauren tried to remain calm. A group of Japanese visitors chattered excitedly and snapped photos of a neon sign of a nude dancing girl, which abruptly metamorphosed into a male. Lauren laughed aloud when one animated man who was posing in front of the sign appeared to grow a large, red phallus out of his left ear as the sign switched genders.
The taxi slowed down when it reached the end of the street. After Lauren paid
