It was just after nightfall when Lauren eased her Mercedes out of the parking garage of Michael"s building where she had left it while in Miami. As the fog swept in, she was once again overcome by the feeling she was falling into an abyss. Lauren drove to Naples where she parked at the foot of the Rivo Alto Bridge and walked along the canal to Anya"s cottage. When she crossed under the trellis into the patio, the sensor tripped the lights. While Lauren pounded on the door, she checked over her shoulder for surveillance.
