Two taxis came but each had one free space. I said no immediately but Lucas told me that if we didn't board those ones we would stay till tomorrow and I didn't want that
We were only going to be apart for some hours but it felt like forever. The weather was also in agreement.
It was around 3:00pm that the sun had a negotiation with the clouds to let it rain. The thunder started barking in jubilation and in not time it started with little drizzles, then drops that finally created a strong story.
It was windy enough to make trees fall so I called Lucas to keep busy because one thing I feared was rain. We were heading to the Eastern part of Uganda so we had already entered the Mabira forest.
The taxi he had boarded was Infront and we were behind. We had travelled for good three hours but the rain had not thought of even taking a break.
When we reached somewhere in the middle of the forest, the driver stopped and said he could no longer see where we were going.
I called Lucas again to tell him that we had stopped but the network was down. I called once or twice but the third time his phone was off .
I started feeling uneasy but it was maybe because I was missing him😁🤫.
Time passed and after like 15mins everyone was shocked to see people running towards our vehicle in the middle of the forest and most importantly under the rain
They gathered around the taxi like zombies but most of them were injured. They had wounds like as if they had been fighting.
" Open for us please "
The driver opened the door to let them in but it was not like they could all fit in. I meant no harm but I really didn't want to squeeze myself to let anyone sit.I already had my frustrations as well because Lucas was not picking and when I saw those people I got the worst feeling.
"What has happened" the driver asked
"We have had an accident" one of them replied.
" Is everyone fine"
" yes apart from the young man who boarded last. We had all survived but the he heard his phone ring from inside and he went back to get it he said that his girlfriend might have been calling but before he could come out,a tree fell and crashed the whole thing. How I wish his girlfriend had not called.
"He must have loved her "I mumbled to myself.
I was planning to ignore everyone but someone caught my attention. I saw the conductor who was in the taxi the Lucas had boarded and my heart started racing.
"Excuse me, the young man they are talking about is the one I was with"?
"Yes, He is
" Where is the car"
" just Infront there.
I moved out of the taxi and walked in the direction they had come from. The night was pitch black and I could barely see what was Infront but I kept going.
I was hoping to find him alive because everyone else had survived.
