Chapter 8

I shouldn't open my eyes!

I thought it's only a dream but I saw two people who were in the frame that I saw earlier and they're talking to a doctor. What on earth happened?!

I looked around and saw myself laying on the king size bed. This is not my bed and it's not definitely my room, as I saw this is like a men's bedroom where there are plain theme black and white. I saw a picture frame in the side drawer of the bed and I saw his picture.

Akiro Elle Devain.

That nightmare was true?! Like he offered me to be his wife and his mother saw me then I passed out?! I thought it was just a dream but no it did really happen! The people here Mr. and Mrs. Devain are talking to the doctor.

I need to get out of here.

"You're awake! Akin, she's awake!" Mrs. Devain said exaggeratedly.

She walked towards the bed that made me sit down and she held my hands and pressed it. I saw Mr. Devain nodded to the doctor that made the doctor go out of the room.

I turn my gaze to Mrs. Devain. Wow she looks beautiful, even more beautiful than the picture that I saw. She has the face of a young woman like she's not in her 50's or something she's like on 30's. Her nose is in good shape, her eyes there's no black below it, there's no wrinkles at all. She looks amazing and pretty.

"Are you okay now? My future daughter in law?" she said.

Future daughter-in-law? Whatt?!

"I'm okay, Mrs. Devain---" she made me stop by pressing my hands

She shakes her head. "Call me, mommy. Mommy Phine short for Josephine." and giggled. And she turned her gaze to her husband standing beside her. "And this is my husband, Akin Devain."

Josephine Devain. I heard it through but where? Maybe on the internet when I search Akiro's lifestyle and personal background.

"It's nice to meet you, Mr and Mrs. Devain. Uhmm but I have to go---" I wanted to stand up but Mrs. Devain won't let me.

"No, you stay here. What if something happens to you? I can't let it happen! I can't lose my daughter-in-law, not now, not ever. Honey! Contact Akiro now! Tell him his fiancee is already awake! Where the hell is he?! Once I lay my eyes on him I will pinch his balls if he doesn't get in here in a minute!" Mrs.Devain yelled that made me startled.

Mr. Devain shook his head and sat down behind Mrs. Devain. "Relax honey, he will be here any minute now." and turn his gaze at me. "How are you, Ms. Zuarez? You are the principal of the school, in the Blues High. Am I right?"

I simply nodded.

Mrs. Devain's lips parted. "You're the principal?! But how? I mean your age doesn't fit to be a principal? How can you be? Wait-- do you know my other son? Jaydee Alec? Do you know him? Is he okay at school? Did he trouble you? Did--"

"Mom you're so loud." someone said at the door.

We looked at the door and he approached us. Mr and Mrs. Devain stood up while he did something that I've never expected him to do.

He kissed me on the cheek!

He sat in front of me and that made me look away for a moment. Why did he kiss me? I mean what just happened?!

"Baby, are you okay? For the moment there you scared me to death. Don't let it happen again, okay?" that made me look at him. He simply smirks at me and he turns his gaze to his mom. "And mom, don't exaggerate too much. You're giving yourself a hopeless hope, Catalina is not pregnant." and looked at me again. "not yet. not yet, baby." and winked at me

What the heck is he saying?!

"Oh come on, Akiro! You're a Devain! A devain is a sharp shooter! What happened? Geez I want grandchildren already!" his mom exaggeratedly said.

I need some water now. I can't digest this situation, it's freaking awkward for me here. I saw a glass of water on the side drawer. I grab it and drink it, damn why do I feel that I didn't drink water for almost a half of a year.

"Mom, you'll get your grandchild but let me and my fiance get married first. Okay, mom?"

"Fine, you'll marry each other first. I'll handle your marriage preparation unless Bettina wants to join me. The marriage will be next month, okay?"

That made me spit the water that's on my mouth.

But their attention is not on me.

That's embarrassing but--- married first?! Who do I marry? They are talking about Akiro and not me right? It's not my marriage that Mrs. Devain is planning right? It's her son she'll handle right? And not mine right?

I can't marry him just like that! What will my Auntie and Uncle say? What will Alexander say? What will my parents say? What will Aeros said?--- F*ck.

Why did I think about my family? They obviously don't care about me at all. Why did I care about what they were gonna say when they didn't care about me in all these years? Why do I care for them while they're not? Why do I still love them now, when they have no guts to visit me in the city?

Now I remember why I woke up earlier. Is that because I've dreamt about that party again. The party that ruined my entire life.

The night when Aeros drove me in the city, without any proper goodbye to my parents. I hate it, I hate the fact I just can't disobey what he wants me to do or my parents want me to do.I just can't say no to them and that's my biggest weakness. It's like in the movies, maybe I had a curse or something that I can't say no or do what they want me to do.

I always wait for them at the door to fetch me but they never come. I contacted dad but he's always busy, he always answers my calls but then again he didn't ask me if I want to go home, he never did. I thought he would be there for me all throughout but I was wrong. I contacted Aeros and Mom but every single time that I called them they never answered it. They never did.

They forgot me but I never dare to forget them.

Two years ago, when I found out that my teaching career will move forward, I wanted to tell them, even though none of them attended my graduation. I sneak out with the help of Alex, I told Auntie that I had a conference in another city but I lied. Afternoon that day when we reached my family small town and that same afternoon it made me the happiest. Aeros is doing great to be a mayor everybody loves him and I'm proud with my older brother.

That day there was a gathering at the house. I was about to go where my mom and dad were but Aeros saw me. He stopped me from going to them. He was mad at me, he talked to me privately. He shouted at me but I didn't care, because I missed my brother so much.

I remembered that instead of crying at him and shouting at him. I'd shown him the certificate of my achievement but he didn't care at all, he told me to leave and the crazy thing that I did I left like he wanted me to do.

I felt a warm thing that was tracing my cheek.

I hurriedly wipe the tear before anyone will see it.

"Mom, can we get some alone time? I need to talk to her alone." Akiro said

"Why? I want to bond with my future-daughter-in-law?" her mother said and looked at me, I just smiled at her.

Heard him sighed. "Dad, do something about mom!" he exclaimed.

His father giggled and he whispered to Mrs.Devain that made her face soften and sad. She nodded and that made her husband smile.

"Fine, but make it fast okay? I want to have a bond with my daughter-in-law." she said and walked toward me, she leaned on me and kissed my forehead. "Welcome to the family, Bettina." she said and winked at me.

She and her husband go outside.

"What the heck was that, Mr.Devain?!" I totally burst out.

He touched his ears and looked at me angrily. "Damn woman, don't scream. I'm just a half of a mile away from you. Damn it." he said

My eyes widened because it made me realize he's right he's just a half of a mile away from me. I suddenly cover my upper body with the sheets because I don't know he's a man!

This is so awkward to me. I mean I knew now for the fact this is his room and being at the guy's room is inappropriate. I never go to someone else's room. This is the first time! Even Joseph! I always limit myself to his room even at my Auntie's house, even at my family house. My mom said that it's inappropriate to go to another's room because it will trespass the other's privacy.

"You shouldn't bring me here! You've already trespass the boundary Mr.Devain and the fact that you told your parents that I'm your fiance which is not true, you already at the edge of the line!"

"I said stop screaming, woman. Can't you stop it?" he said

I'm losing myself at his dark eyes while he's staring at me and that's not good. I tell you that's not good. I shake my head and stand my ground.

"No! You stop this nonsense, right now. This is not a good joke Mr. Devain, so please tell your parents that you're just joking. This is a hell out of joke!"

"This is not a joke, Catalina! We will marry each other next month!"

This is a nightmare! A nightmare!

"What did you just call me?" I asked him.

Did he just call me Catalina? My family alone always calls me that and not just anybody.

"I hate to call you Bettina, it's not suit you. And you called me Elle not Akiro, so we are just quits. You call me Elle then I call you Catalina." he said and smirked

"If I call you Akiro, you'll address me by my first name?" I said

He leaned towards me and that made me back myself but there's a head border here that made me stop leaning back.

This is so inappropriate.

He looked at my wet lips that made me bite it and he looked at my eyes. " Stop biting your lip, I'm supposed to bite it, not you. So stop biting it before it tempts me to bite it." that made me stop biting my lips. He smirked at me. "Back to your question, you can call me Akiro but I'll call you whatever I want." he said and stopped leaning towards my face because there's no way he leaned again because if he did our lips would meet!

I pushed him hard on his chest and hurried to get out of the bed. Damn his chest is hard.

"Look Mr. Elle Devain." so he looked at me sarcastically. I sighed " I can't marry you, Mr. Devain. Because we barely know each other--"

"Then we will get to know each other."

"I'm not interested in you."

"But I am."

"You don't know me."

"I already checked you."

"You're not my boyfriend."

"I'm your fiance."

"You annoy me."

"The same you do to me."

"I don't love you."

"Then start loving me now."

Damn, I didn't see that coming. My jaw dropped literally! But he is just smirking at my reaction to what he just said.

I sighed. "Stop this nonsense, Mr.Devain. I'll go now tell your parents the truth before I tell them." I said and hurried to go to the door.

My heart is skipping so fast. Damn, maybe I have a disease or something. I grabbed the door knob but he started talking again.

"See you soon, wife." he said at the back.

It's official then, my heart skipped a beat.
