Psychotic or Not?

Meanwhile, Thor was sitting watching the viking documentary that the cable guy left turned on. "Thor can smell the salty brine." Jay strode into the room and let out a relieved sigh, "There's my toolbox!" He grabbed them, then noticed that the TV was still on. "Come on! The electricity!!" Jay complained as he grabbed the remote and turned the TV off, enraging Thor. "By the loins of Freyda, WHY??!!! SMALL MAN!!" He yelled, wanting Jay to turn around and put the TV back on. ************************ *Da Basement. Again.* Jay walked into the basement, hammer in hand, and turned the light on. The light caused the cholera ghosts surrounding him to jump in shock as their eyes adjusted. "Well, if it isn't, Mr. Fix - It?" One sassed. "Why's he got a hammer?" Another ghost asked. "Who knows." The bearded ghost responded. Jay used the hammer and hit it against one of the pumps, causing the cholera ghost to all say, "No, no, no!" As they knew the consequences. Jay, oblivious, kept on hitting the pump over and over again as the pipe made more clanking noises. The cholera ghosts began to yell, outraged for him to stop or calling him fool. "God, I know we're dead, but he's trying to kill us." The second ghost from before said. ******************************* *The Kitchen.* Meanwhile, upstairs, Sam was on her laptop searching up 'psychotic breaks' and checking off all the signs that she had. "OK, that's me." She said, reading one of the symptoms. "A moment of your time, please." Hetty asked politely as she looked at Sam, who was still trying to ignore the ghosts. "That's also me!" She exclaimed as she read another one from her laptop. "You must repair my wall!" Hetty demanded. " I cannot spend another night listening to that bohemian blabber away! I won't do it!" "Bring back my people to the thing, the sorcerer's window!" Thor yelled. "Okay, you are a strong, sane woman. You are a strong, sane woman!" Sam told herself, following a mantra she found online. Trevor, who was walking past, stopped and yelled to Sam, "Hey! Bighead!" Just as Cassie entered the room. "I don't want you anyway." He said to Sam, who only took a short glance at him before returning to her laptop. "What are you doing?" Cassie asked Trevor as she walked over to stand beside Thor. "See, say something negative, get them off balance. Oh, I don't know why I didn't start with this." "Now wonder you didn't have a girlfriend." Cassie mumbled. "Hey!" Trevor yelled. As Thor laughed at Cassie's comment. "Little One, make good joke about you. Quite amusing!" "Depression, difficulty concentrating!" "Babe, can you bring me my screwdriver?" Jay called from the basement. "Sure thing!" Sam yelled back, collecting the tool and rushing to the room where Jay was. "She moves!" Thor said, following after her. "Do not walk away from me!" Hetty scolded Sam as she jogged as best as she could after her descendant. "She can't move too fast with those slightly too large ankles! This is genius!" Trevor said, following the other three. "No, it isn't! And she's in great shape for someone who has a 15 year old daughter!" Cassie yelled as she hurried after the other four. "You cannot escape us!" Thor taunted as he and Hetty were up in front. Suddenly, Hetty stopped and gasped, "No!" Watching as Sam ventured down the stairs to the basement. "No way I'm going down there." "No, no. They are terrifying." Thor admitted. "What's down there?" Cassie asked with worry, as she had never been in the basement. Trevor wrapped an arm around her and said, "Don't worry about it. Just don't go down there." "Don't have to tell me twice." She responded, hiding behind Hatty and Thorfinn. "Oh and," She started, slapping Trevor on the back of his head. "OWWW!!!" He yelped, rubbing the injury. "What is wrong with you?! WHY??!!!" "For insulting my Mom doofus." ************************* "Jay, I think there's something very wrong." Sam said as she walked down the stairs. She then looked up and saw all the cholera ghosts gathered around Jay. "OH MY GOD!" She screamed. "What?" "What do you mean? What? There's a bunch of zombies down here!!" "Zombies?"One of the ghosts questioned before chuckling. "Zombies aren't real." "We're ghosts." One closest to Sam introduced. "We all died of cholera." "It wasn't great." Another commented. "Babe, I think you really just need some more rest." "We are way past rest! We need to go to a hospital now!" Sam demanded. "Okay. Well, I'll drive you." Jay offered as he made his way over to Sam. "Red valve! Tell him to turn the red valve!" The cholera ghost's voices clambered over each other. "Can you turn the red valve?" Sam asked Jay. "What?"Jay froze. "Can you just turn the red valve?" Sam requested. "It - it's kind of urgent...if you like the house." One of them said as Jay turned the red valve. "There you go!" "How did you know about the red - " "Can we get the hell outta here, please?" Sam begged her husbandbefor storming up the stairs. "Okay." Jay said as he turned the light off despite the cholera ghosts' protests. "Nuts!" One cursed as the basement plunged into darkness. ********************* "Cassie!" Sam called out. "Yeah, Mom?" Cassie voice rang out from the living room. "Me and your Dad are going to the hospital. I want this delusion dealt with." "Mom, you're not delusional. This is real! I know this because Damien was born with this, and I've been able to see them for nine years. It's scary at first, yes, but it's real." Sam contemplated what her daughter was telling her and whether or not this was her going crazy. " I still want to double check. OK? Stay here with Damien, alright?" "Alright. Bye, Mom!" She called as her parents left the house. She sighed in discouragement as she stared at the door. ************************** *At the Hospital.* "I'm just saying it's been three days, and I'm not feeling any better, so I'm starting to freak out." Sam explained to the doctor before chuckling dryly. "Well, I have to be honest. I don't think this will get better." "What?" "Seems as if your accident left you so close to death that you've somehow actually obtained the ability to see dead people." "That can't be possible." Sam laughed. "It's quite rare. But I've seen it before. The last time was around 85 years ago." The doctor continued. "Wait, how - How old are you?" "Well, I was about 50 when I died." As soon as he finished, the real doctor stepped into the room. "I'm sorry about that." She apologised as she was slightly late. "I'll let you visit with your living doctor." The doctor across the desk said as he got up. "What seems to be troubling you?" The real doctor asked Sam, looking up from her file. Sam turned back to the ghosts doctor, who said, "She's excellent, by the way." He then proceeded to leave the room via the wall, leaving Sam in a state of slight distress. ************************* *Back home* Cassie finished her phone call with her Dad and turned back to the living room, where she saw the ghosts huddled around Damien, smelling the aroma coming from the fresh plate of cookies he had made. Cassie looked at Damien in disbelief as he stuffed his mouth with a cookie before spotting her lingering in the hallway. He quickly swallowed the cookie as the ghosts froze upon realising they were being watched. They each gave a nervous smile and slowly stood up straight to appear as though they hadn't been involved. The teen looked from the ghosts to the boy sitting on the couch and back to the ghosts. Damien finally broke the silence by innocently asking, "Cookie?" Holding the plate up. "Eh, why not?" Cassie shrugged, grabbing a cookie and sitting next to Damien."I thought I told you guys to wait for me?" "Well, we were gonna do that, but they smelled so good." Isacc told her. "It's good enough to be a substitute for c**aine." Hetty declared. "Okay. Hope this is 100% cookie, 0% c**aine." Cassie mumbled. "It is." Damien said, placing the plate on the table for the ghosts to smell as Cassie began eating hers. "Hey, do you think your parents would let me stay here for a few nights. It's just that my dad's outta town, and I don't have anyone to look after me. Other than my neighbour but she is crazy! I swear I've seen her talk to a plant once as if it was her husband!" "Yeah, of course they'll let you stay! They're gold-hearted people. Though my dad will worry, but it's not like anythings gonna happen." "Don't worry. I respect people's boundaries, and you have 8 ghosts that can spy on me or blackmail me. Is it OK if I go get some stuff now?" "Yeah, go. I've gotta call my dad and tell him." The ghosts watched the interaction between the teens, the cookies long forgotten and stared as Damien left the living room then the house to collect his things. The eight heads snapped back to Cassie, who had finished nibbling on her cookie and was looking for her Dad's contact. As she felt several pairs of eyes burning into her skull, she looked up to see everyone staring at her in shock. "What?" She questioned. "You just invited a man into this house without my approval! What if he sees your ankles!?" "Hetty relax. I'll wear socks and pants that cover them. Besides, what was I gonna say? 'No, Damien, you can't stay. You can go to the woman who is mental asylum, level crazy and stay on your own. How does that sound? She mocked. "Yes!" A few replied. "Well, I personally can't wait to watch them!" Alberta cheered. "Do what? Sit and gossip?" "Is he Irish? His name sounds Irish." "I don't know, Hetty! I don't think so. Ask him! Now, if you excuse me, I'm gonna go call my Dad and tell him about this and how nothing will happen. " "Well, nothing better happen. No falling in love, Cassie!" Trevor warned. "I won't!" She called as she left the room. Boy, was she wrong.
