Viking Funeral.

1094 Words
*At Night by the Lake.* The Viking funeral commenced as Jay set the arrow on fire, listening to the instructions Pete was telling him through Sam. "Alright. Just like we talked about. Keep your back straight -" "Keep your back straight -" Sam translated as Jay notched the bow and arrow before raising it. "Now pull back slowly but evenly -" "Now pull back slowly but evenly -" "I would take Pete's advice on this with a grain of salt." Hetty murmured to Flower as Sam and Pete continued saying instructions to Jay. Once they had finished, Jay let the arrow soar before it perfectly hit the old canoe with Thor's bones that floated on top of the lake. Everyone cheered as the flames engulfed the canoe, allowing Thor to have a proper Viking funeral. "Sæll víkingr jarðarför Þorfinnr!" (Happy Viking Funeral Thorfinn!) Cassie exclaimed, shocking the group. "Ek þakka þér, litli einn! Ok góðr norrœnn." Thor complimented. (Thank you, Little One. And good Norse.) "Since when could you speak Viking?" Damien asked in disbelief. "Since Mom went into her coma. I have an ear for languages as it turns out." Cassie smiled. "Thor wants to thank Samantha, Small Man, Little One, and Tall Stick for making special day possible." Thor announced. "Though I wish you would've secured mead. But we'll let that go." "You're welcome, Thor." Sam said. Trevor walked up to Thor and patted his back and shoulder in a celebratory way before giving his speech. "Sometimes you need a bro. And you're like, this is a bro." As Trevor continued with his speech, Isacc turned to Alberta and apologised. "I just wanted to say," He started. "That even though neither of us won the election, you have won my respect." "Where's this going?" "I resorted to dirty tricks, and you? You inspired people. That's the mark of a truly talented politician." "Well, y'know, I do have that star quality." Alberta smiled. "Oh, I didn't mean to imply that you don't." "No, it's a fair critique. I was never the type commoners liked to have an ale with. Those dirty, filthy, ignorant commoners." Isacc laughed as Alberta looked slightly concerned. "Hard to see why they didn't like you." Alberta said sarcastically. "Agreed. It's a mystery." "Now is typically time when we have orgy." Thor announced, turning everyone's attention back to the funeral. "But, orgy without mead is very awkward." A stunned silence fell over the group. Suddenly, a bright light shone on Thor, causing the others to smile and cheer. "Oh!! It's happening!!" Alberta cried. "He is getting sucked off!" Hetty cheered. "By the eye of the All Father, Valhalla!!!" Thor bellowed, looking up to the sky. "Wait!" Flower cried, running over to Thor. "Thorfinn, I love you!" She admitted, causing the Arondekar girls and Damien to gasp while Jay looked around in confusion. "I've always loved you." "Why you wait till now to say this?" Thor asked. "So many years wasted!" A weird beep from behind interrupted. "Please extinguish the fire in the middle of the pond!" A female police officer demanded. "You do not have a permit." "Sorry!" Sam said. "Yeah, I'll take care of it right now. Thank you!" Jay added, shielding his eyes from the bright light on top of the car. "Party pooper." Damien whispered, causing Cassie to chuckle. The police cruiser drove away, turning the bright light away from Thor, who was slightly deflated from realising he was not getting sucked off. "Oh. So now, it seems like we have second chance." "Y'know, I think I kinda got caught up in the moment. And I don't really want to be tied down." "Yeah. Moving on." Thor attempted to joke. "Not in love." "They so are." Damien said as Cassie hummed in agreement. "Thank you for doing all this. It really meant a lot to him." Sam told Jay, holding his hands. "I'm glad. And, um, don't worry about the house and everything. We got a lot to fix up, but we'll figure it out." "Custom booth would've been nice." "It would've been a game changer." "Aww." Cassie softly cooed as she watched her parents. "But, I gotta say. Watching my man fire that arrow - pretty hot." "Indeed." Isacc agreed. "The fire! The fire was what's hot." Isacc tried to recover himself from swooning over Jay. "As fire is. And no one can argue with that, so..." he trailed as he walked off, realising no one was paying attention. "It's kinda nice he has a little crush." Cassie told Damien. "Why?" Damien asked. Cassie paused for a little while before saying, "It just is." But she thought of it as a step towards him accepting himself. Meanwhile, Sam then went to check on Thor. "How you doing, big guy?" Sam asked. "I am happy." Thor said. "It was not time for Thor to be sucked off." Thor accepted. "Ship mates may have abandoned Thor, but you did not. And that goes for all of you!" He said as he turned to the others. "You have never abandoned me. And for that, I am thankful!" The others began clapping in joy and celebration. "How can we abandon him?" Trevor asked Pete. "We literally can't leave." "Ssh! Just let him have this." Pete said. "Yeah, a girl said she loved him, then immediately friend zoned him, so he deserves a win today." Cassie added. Everyone then went over to Thor to celebrate and hug whilst Sam and Jay stood at the lake, Jay putting the fire out while Sam wrapped her arms around his waist. Damien walked up to Cassie, who was laughing with Alberta, and placed his chin on her shoulder. "You think you can teach me some Norse?" He asked. "No. I know I can." She answered confidently. The pair shared a soft chuckle before talking to different ghost about the funeral. ***************** *The next morning, Basement* Cassie and Sam stood awkwardly in the centre of the basement, the cholera ghosts surrounding them as they stared in curiosity at the two livings. "So we'll meet down here once a week to go over the ghost requests." Creepy Dirk said. "Uh- huh." Sam agreed whilst Cassie held onto the sleeve of her shirt. "First request, this comes from Stuart. Do you mind if he smells you?" Creepy Dirk asked the pair. Stuart started to lean towards the girls, freaking them out. "Nope! Not doing this! Sorry, guys!" Sam called as she and Cassie rushed out of the room. "Yeah, sorry, but no!" "Awww!" The ghosts sighed dejected.
