My eyes widen and I look at Anastacia to find her eyes just as wide before tears pool in them as we become overcome with emotion at the news.
“You are clean; you may proceed,” the sorceress says, but her voice fades to the background while my heart races, and instead of doing what she says, Anastacia and I engulf each other in a hug, the world disappearing for a moment as we hold each other tight.
I’m going to be a dad. “Thank you,” I whisper and a muffled sob escapes Anastacia, both of us overtaken by the news. I don’t know how long we hold each other, but by the time we break the hug, everyone is looking at us with sad smiles, not knowing what is happening.
