My mind races as I head down the stairs, heading to Amara’s room, where Ariadne is. I have just spoken to Nicholas about Valerio and am even more worried now. Nicholas has also noticed some changes in Valerio, particularly after he proposed reinstating the Lupine Trail and the Thornbane Judicator as additional forms of punishment.
The Lupine Trail is the punishment that was used on Adonis. Nicholas told me his father, King Adamos invented it, and it was his favorite punishment, but when Nicholas stepped into power, he banned it. It was too cruel, and he felt beheading was enough punishment.
