Aaron slapped the man’s face before stepping back. The man in front of him coughed, spitting out blood
“It would be easier for you to give up and accept your fate” Aaron said, whipping his bloody knuckles on a towel before throwing it to a guard
“Never” He said
“Are you sure? After all, you are immortal and I could do this all day.” Aaron smirked
The man stayed silent. His body bent over as his body was held up by chains, blood dripping on the floor.
“He eats and drinks nothing until sunset” Aaron said, leaving the cell
As he walked out, he walked towards the door and quickened his steps when he heard a low whine near the door. He saw a pup, no more than five and he smiled cruelly
“Has your mother come back yet?” Aaron asked the wolf pup
The pup cowered in fear, his head hung low as he moved away from Arron, hiding his body near the wall where he was chained to
“I said - “ Aaron cut off
“Stop playing and wasting time Arron” The woman in the black cloak said
The woman walked over to him and picked up the whimpering wolf pup, his eyes lowered as she took a sniff. Shaking her head, she put him down and walked out of the second door as Arron and the guards followed. Giving the guards further instructions on what to do, Aaron turned to the female
“She still hasn’t found the required knife. I don’t get why we can’t use a normal one” Arron asked
“Because he is an immortal. Fae’s can’t just be killed, their hearts have to be ripped out and crushed into dust. That also means their blood can’t be easily spilled. Haven’t you noticed that even with injuries, they heal quickly? Their blood, if taken unwillingly, doesn’t work for anything. And if spilled in battle...on any weapon, doesn’t stay. After a few seconds, the blood evaporates” She said
“What about Gemma’s blood? That was given willingly wasn’t it? When she was hurt as a child” Aaron asked as he followed her through the caves and back into a spacious study
“But that is being kept safe and away from everyone” She said, taking of the cloak “And if anyone approached him for her blood, immediately he would be suspicious”
“But can’t - “ Aaron started to ask
“No. we must be smart about this. If we are discovered before time, then there is no way the Grand One can obtain enough power to take them all out. There’s too many of them still alive” She muttered angrily
“But...surely as a Grand One is powerful enough without what Nait has?” Aaron said with a frown
“Are you questioning the Grand One’s ability? How dare you!” She shouted at him, her eyes flashing fire
“Forgive me” Aaron said with a bow “i did not mean it that way it that way my lady”
“The knife Jenny is trying to find is one that belongs to him. Once she does, we will be able to get his blood” She said as she started pulling out two books from the bookshelf
“How? And what is the point if it is not given willingly?” Aaron asked
“The blood will stay longer on the knife as it is his. I am almost ready with this position which will allow me to use it to find Nait’s home. Failing that, I have a plan. That little pup in there? It is an innocent….a warrior to be. One which will grow up to be a commander in the future for The Astrid’s army and will work closely with the council. Unlike Chris, I explored other avenues in case Carrie did turn out to be a mole!” She spat
Walking closer to her, Aaron saw her bent head as she looked at two books while reading and comparing text from both.
“Why? Why are you doing this? I mean, don’t get me wrong...I love it and with your talents, you could have been her right hand in all cases but…..you are here. And just how did you know that pup in there would be someone special?” Aaron asked her
“I knew because I did the research. When the Astrid was born, planets aligned. When she turned three and five; she had small marks appear on her body that her mother covered up with spells and magick, telling her about the council. Of course she was too young to understand. When she was sixteen and started emitting her aura she had visions which she thought were random dreams. Ones that became more prominent with information as she got older. Then when she came to the academy, she would see her past, speak to visions of her real mother” She said
She picked up a test tube that had a green substance in it, bubbling and boiling before she took out a small vial of black substance and mixed four drops into it. The green liquid turned blue, bubbling away as it got whiter and whiter when suddenly, the test tube exploded. Ducking their heads, the green and black liquid separated from each other on the table before deflating into liquid. She raised her head from the cover of her arms, her eyes flashing red for a second before turned to him
“Without his blood given willingly, we won’t be able to get into Nait’s home. That test was one where I tried to use his old blood spot I took from his tissue. And that was a test, exploding to deny entry. Anyone going there will automatically be maimed or killed” She said
She walked towards the window and opened it, the breeze filtering into the room as she took a deep breath
“We can still try it with his knife but it needs to be willingly” She said before turning back around
Hearing a beep from her wrist, she took out the phone. Looking down, she frowned. Walking back to the table, she re-tied her cloak and fixed her hair back into place as she changed her boots to the delicate ballerina shoes and walked towards the hallways.
“Wait! What should I do now if I can’t hurt that pup?” Aaron asked
“Entice him with the pup. Make sure he knows the value of that pup and why it would be in his best interest to give his blood willingly” She said as she threw a blue energy wall into the air.
“As to why I did this….I was simply sick of being fourth best to my own mate” She said with a snarl
“Fourth?” Aaron asked
“My mate always worried about Gemma. Always cared for her. When Lily came to our group, I became second best….until that brat came along. Then everything was about her, about Gemma….I had hated her long before she was born because I knew when I met my mate that his line would be her saviour. I tried to change that but nothing worked. I was seventeen when I met him and three days after our mating, I met the Grand One and I thought what I had been told was an exaggeration….until every f*****g day I lived my life for her!” She said in anger
“You met the Grand One?” Aaron asked, his eyes widening in shock
“Oh yes! See Chris and Goine were nothing...they weren’t worthy of meeting the Grand One in person but I was because my purpose was greater and I had it within me. When Lily died, I thought that was it. I had managed to stop Gemma from being the Astrid, but she had powers even the Grand One had been unaware of. Then Gemma took my place...both within the pack and my husband’s heart….but that wasn’t even the half of it. Her survival meant that Carrie and my mate became close, not as lovers but once again, I was now third in his heart and in the packs eyes” She said as she walked towards the portal
Just before she stepped through the portal, she stopped and turned her head to look at Arron, she spoke
“But the last straw was when my son, my boy who had loved me all his life, found out that Gemma was his mate and once again I came in fourth to that b***h! She took my mate, she took my pack and everyone else’s loyalty….then to take me out of my son’s heart and make it her own place...Well, that was the last straw” She said
“But didn’t you know about her being Max’s mate early on, when she was young?” Aaron asked, confused
“I did but you see; It was I who mixed positions into Max’s drink at night for him not to think she was his mate. He felt a strong pull to her and I mixed things into her fish finger sandwiches at his birthday. That is why they both were so erratic in their behaviour. I had to break them up so I could send Conner to her” She laughed
“It was you! You started this all with Goine, telling him where to find them...Peter and Lily….their deaths, Kidnapping Gemma to attack her….everything since Lily was discovered at university….It was all you” Aaron said with understanding
Nodding her head, she pulled up her cloak hood and in a slow, malicious voice said
“And now, it’s I who run everything and have been doing since Gemma came into my life! Get her grandfather to change his mind willingly. I am done playing games! Max and Gemma keep disappearing off somewhere and it is time my son came home…..without that b***h!”
Heather stepped through the portal, the portal closing behind her as Arron looked on in shock, his mind exploding with information and revelation
