“We knew it was possible it was one of our parents….but this?” Ben said with a shake of his head Gemma sniffed as fresh tears leaked from her eyes. Maddie hugged her tighter as Cindy held her hand in comfort. “I...just can’t…” Gemma started “He wouldn’t have lied as he was dying Gem’s” Kyle said quietly as he paced up and down the living room After Conner’s death and revelation, Gemma had gone into shock; her mind numb from the betrayal. Max had called Ben, Maddie, Cindy, Kyle and Nait to the dorm; calling an immediate and emergency meeting. For the last two hours; the group had discussed the revelation and the implication “What worried me more is the people who he didn’t know” Maddie said quietly “I still don...do...don’t..think...mammie…” Gemma started before covering her mouth. Max walked over to her and crouched down in front of her, his eyes warm and full of sympathy. He took one of her hands in his and used the other to caress her cheeks “Gemstone, you need to accept this sweetheart” Max said “It’s easy for you to say! It’s not your parents who are…….are…..be..being accused!” Gemma shouted angrily “Gem’s-” Max started “And how can you sit there and be so calm!” Gemma shouted at Cindy “How can you accept what…” Gemma cut off as she muffled her shout of pain “Gemma” Nait said as he entered the room “Finally! Where the hell have you been?” Max asked as he got up Gemma got up and ran to Nait, hugging him as she threw herself into his arms. Her body shaking with her sobs. She didn’t see the shocked look on everybody except Max; face. As they all looked at one another, unsure what was going on or why Gemma was hugging Nait so tightly; they threw glances between them and Max, waiting for him to explode. When Max didn’t react as they expected, Ben pushed past the group of people and looked at them in anger and surprise “Is there a reason you two are hugging in such a way? Like what the f**k man!” Ben asked “She has her mate here for that” Nait looked at Ben and smiled indulgently. Once he passed Gemma some healing support and her tears eased; he helped her back to sit on the couch. “What did you do to me?” Gemma asked “I sent you some healing vibes. Calming you down; giving you some stability” Nait said gently When Ben moved forward to speak to Nait, Max held him back, shaking his head. When Gemma sighed and nodded Ben huffed out a breath and stepped back. Kyle walked forward and sat down beside Gemma, the book of secrets in his hands. “We need to find out what they both exactly did, how they betrayed us” Kyle said as his finger traced the page “You really believe mammie...pops…” Gemma bit her bottom lip “The book did say that there is family betrayal and treachery around us. That it has been passed down and through one who seeks knowledge” Kyle stopped and looked at the group “That could be dad. That he tells mum everything and could it be that the information is then being told elsewhere?” The group became silent. Nait sighed and looked at them. “There is only one option now” Nait said quietly “What is it?” Max asked “That we confront them” Nait said The group erupted in chaos as they fought among themselves, each voicing a different way to approach this. Gemma stayed silent as she tried to listen to everyone. When she looked side ways, she saw Cindy, quietly sitting there “Why are you not speaking?” Gemma asked her “Because I’m your Vo-Suie. I am here to keep you safe. I have to be impartial. Regardless of who the traitor is” Cindy said solemnly “She’s right” Nait said “About what?” Maddie asked as they now paid attention to Cindy and Gemma; their arguments momenteraily paused “Cindy being a Vo-Suie means that her first and only priority is you Gemma. She should have no personal agenda, no care about the relationship to her to to others of who the betrayers are….even if they are by blood to herself” Nait explained gently “Then why has aunt Carrie-?” Maddie started to ask “Because she has forgotten her teaching, forgotten her purpose” Nait gently advised “And you never saw this coming?” Gemma asked her brother “You can’t see the betrayers?” “I can’t” Nait said, shaking his head “Be it due to the fates design or a fault within me; I am blind in this respect” “I really don’t get why you are so involved” Ben said with annoyance “I agree...sir” Maddie said with a blush “I am just ...I mean...do you….like Gemma? Because, you know; she and Max-” Nait held up his hand as amusement light his eyes up. Gemma sighed and stood up, a hand on her forehead as she looked at the group. “I think it’s time” Gemma quietly stated Nait lifted one eyebrow in question at Gemma. Max whipped his head around to look at her. “Are you sure?” Max asked “We need to tell them” Gemma nodded “Tell us what?” Kyle asked, “Tell you who Nait is….who he really is” Gemma said, her eyes touching on each person’s face “Why?” Ben asked with a frown “Who is he really? --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Banging his hand down in a hard bang, Chris muttered an oath; his face flushed in anger. Looking at Carrie and Goine he threw the contents of the table onto the floor “I had no choice. It was either that or being discovered” Goine said quickly “Our two biggest allies….two of our strongest right-hand people are now dead because you couldn’t control your anger!” Chris shroud back “She got in the way! That wasn’t my fault!” Goine said between clenched teeth “She wouldn’t have done that had you not attacked! I told you to seek answers….not to expose and destroy the evidence. Now we don’t know if he has exposed us or given them our names!” Chris said in anger “He wouldn’t have been able to” Goine shook his head “How do you know?” Carrie asked with a snort “Because I attacked him as they were still out training. They wouldn’t have made it back in time. Not with the grueling schedule Max has them on” oine smirked “That’s not the point here Goine!” Carrie glared at him “I took care of a problem” Goine said with a tight smile “That’s all that matters. Yes we lost a valuable asset...two of them...but we also protected ourselves “You damn well better hope so. Because if this f***s up and pushes the timeline that we need in order to prepare for what is to come; you can bet your ass that the next disposable hindrance will be you!” Chris gripped Grinding his teeth in anger, smiling a tight smile; Goine turned on his feet and left, throwing a portal ball of energy and walking through it. Leaving the room completely. Carrie sighed as she rubbed her forehead “What a f**k up” She whispered “At this rate, he will kill half of our followers! We aren’t ready and if he pushes-” Chris shook his head in anger “If you would just tell me who it is and how I can really help…” Carrie encouraged her brother “You helping me, supporting me is help enough…..all these years of information has helped” Chris said as he walked over to her and kissed her forehead Carrie smiled bitterly before schooling her features to indifference. “Would you like me to see what the kids know?” Carrie asked her brother “Yes. See what their thoughts are. What they are planning and thinking. Losing Conner as our eyes and ears will mean we are blind to their conversation in the dorm” Chris said as he walked to a bookshelf Looking through his book, he selected a red; leather bound book that had seen better days and blew on it. The book opened and pages flickered by themselves until settling at a page that had Chris grin “And” Chris continued “When you come back, bring me Gemma’s blood” “Her blood?” Carrie whispered “I know you have a vial of it, that you have kept it in a private room somewhere” Chris grinned “Yes but...why do you need it?” Carrie asked with a tilt of her head “He’s weakening. I need her blood to keep him alive. At least until the big reveal...then he will die...after seeing seeing the betrayal come to life” Chris laughed Nodding, Carrie smiled along with her brother as she calculated in her head the request he asked for. She stopped thinking about anything else and opened a portal, telling her brother she would be back later. Chris returned to his book, contemplating his next move as he started readjusting people in place of those that were now lost to him. Carrie stepped through the portal and landed back into the livingroom of the pack house. “Well?” The voice said Turning around, Carrie looked at his face and nodded. Her eyes watering as she sniffed. She took a step forward before launching into his arms “It’s as we thought. It’s all in place. I just wish I could do this any other way” “I wish there was a way you didn’t have to do this” He said, his voice gruff with emotion “I wish I wasn’t betraying-” “You promised you wouldn’t tell” Carrie cut him off stepping back “And you promised that it was the last time when Lily died” He said sadly Carrie smiled before sighing “There isin’t much time. We have to do this! We have to kill-” “No Carrie. We have to sav-” He was cut off “Stop it! Stop. you promised to be there every step of the way to help so do it...give me her blood” Carrie insisted Sighing, He turned away and walked out of the room. Carrie hugged herself as her eyes cleared; her focus only on what was to come. When she heard footsteps; behind her, she turned to look at him. “Are you sure Carrie?” He asked “Because once this is in motion, you can never set it back” “We always knew this was how it was meant to be” Carrie smiled sadly “The twin prophecy was always clear. It was other’s who misinterpreted this” He nodded before looking away, clearing his throat...once...twice...twice before meeting her eyes, his resolve complete. “I’m with you. All the way. Always have been and always will be” He said Carrie smiled at him as she took the vial of blood in her hand before pocketing it. Carrie looked at him and held out her hand. Taking it, he placed his in her her’s and closed his eyes, before opening them again. Carrie smiled when she saw lavender eyes and knew now; she was unstoppable. Laughing, she gripped his hand tighter as she knew no-one would see this coming. No-one would expect it which meant her enemies wouldn’t either. Which meant that with this powerful protector at her side….balance would once again be restored
