Annabel staggered as she stepped into Etheera’s mind, finding herself in the middle of a busy street. A man carrying a crate with apples pushed her shoulder and almost sent her to the ground, then another one almost stepped on her. She got to her feet and moved away from the stream of people, flattening herself against the nearest wall. All the times she had come here, the streets had been empty and quiet, with just its mesmerizing beauty filling the air. Now the space was filled with humans in odd clothing, feet raising dust on the ground as they went about their way. The buildings looked different too, less shiny and somehow smaller.
