Breaking through

All of us have been working nonstop on this to try and break through, and now we have a crack, which is nice, but how are we going to get them up?

Trevor: What’s the progress on the crack we have because we need to get them out fast?

Worker: It has gotten bigger. We should have it all cleared out by tonight, Sir.

Dedrick:Actually, we could get through it in a few minutes if we brought a sledgehammer in, but they were afraid that the building would move.

When Dedrick asked about a sledgehammer, Trevor walked over to the table with the tools and grabbed a small one and just hit it.

Anne:Trevor, what are you doing? You’re going to make the building collapse even more, so stop!

Trevor: No I’m not, and it is nice and open so we can get them out of there, so don’t worry, it is fine.

They all came over and looked at him like he was crazy, then went back to the spot and Trevor just walked away and grabbed the walkie-talkie and turned to the private line they had for them.

Mandy: Dad, why did a big thing of snow just fall right through to where we are?

Trevor:Because I just broke through and everyone is surprised at me and I don’t know why. Just tell your brother and the paramedic that we made it through.

Mandy walked over to find them, putting Sandra on the board slowly, but she didn’t dare to ask if they needed help, but Mandy had to tell them.

Mandy:David, can I have your attention for a minute, please, it’s about them getting to us.

David turned and looked at her, then stood up and walked over to Mandy.

David:What do you mean did they break through the entrance of the building?

Mandy:Dad got the entrance to the building open, and they just had to figure out what to do to get us out now.

David: OK, I’ll go tell them that they got through the ice and snow. I’ll talk to you later, OK.

Mandy:”ok”

After he was done talking to Mandy, David walked back over to where Sandra and Miles were and sat back down next to Sandra.

Miles: So what did she say the progress outside is making?

David: Well, my dad broke through the snow and ice, but it’s just now to figure out how to get us out of here now.

Miles: OK, let’s get her stable on the board now so when they can get us back up she won’t move.

After they got Sandra situated on the board, it was now a waiting game for them all.

Miles: I’m going to have a walk because my legs are going numb. I’ll be right back.

And with that, David was left alone with Sandra, just sitting in silence. It was aggregating that he couldn't do anything but wait.

David:Sandra, you know, I finally realized that being alone without anyone in your life can be boring, but I know we will get out of this mess and life will just continue on.

People were talking around Sandra, and she wanted to answer, but she couldn’t. Sandra feels like she is asleep but not waking up.

Mandy:Why are you here alone? Why? What happened to the paramedic that was with you?

David: He went for a walk, but I stayed behind with Sandra to keep her company and make sure she didn’t start bleeding again.

Trevor:Mandy, are you there? We are coming in to get you guys now, OK.

Mandy: OK dad, see you soon.

David:Did you hear that, Sandra, we will be out of here soon and will get you to a hospital?

Sandra wanted to speak, but felt sleepy again, so she just went back to sleep.

It had been sad for Mandy to see her brother go through emotions, but she was happy to see that he cares for someone so much that he is willing to do anything for them.

Mandy: Don’t worry, I’m sure she can hear what you are saying. I’ll go find the paramedic and get him to come back so you can get some sleep.

Mandy walked to the place where she came from and found him sitting on the ground and walked over to him.

Mandy:Hey, could you come back and sit with her, so my brother could get some sleep just for a few hours.

Miles: I can go sit with her. Don’t worry about your brother being fine, but he is sleep-deprived, so he might get irritated.

Mandy:”ok”

Miles walked back to where she was and there he had fallen asleep, so Miles went over and shook him a bit to wake him up, but he didn’t budge.

Miles:David, are you OK? I need you to wake up so you can sleep somewhere else.

He moved a little bit, but Miles knew he was tired, so he just let him be and just stayed there.

Miles:You have some good people who care about you, Sandra, even if you can’t or can, I just want you to know that.

With that, he just sat in silence in this big hole that they were all in, and hoped that they would get us out soon, even if they did have a big enough hole to get us out.
