Soren began packing his bag for school when there was a knock at the door.
“Sorren I’m coming in” said his mother softly. She entered the room and smiled at her son,
“How’s my bookworm this morning?” She asked with a smile and kissed his forehead.
“Hungry.” He grinned.
His mother smiled and headed to his wardrobe to grab his uniform and placed it on his bed.
“Well, if you hurry, brush your teeth and get dressed then maybe I can stop the greedy beasts from eating your breakfast for you.” She chuckled and pinched his nose.
“OK!” Sorren exclaimed and darted to the bathroom to brush his teeth quickly so he could get to his breakfast before his dad and sister end up eating it.
Once his teeth were brushed, he raced back to his bedroom and quickly changed out of his pyjamas and into his uniform. As soon as he was dressed, he grabbed his bag and headed downstairs to the kitchen.
Sorren
Mmmmmmmm smells like mamma made pancakes with bacon and eggs. I walked into the kitchen and see papa holding mamma whilst smiling. It makes me happy whenever they’re close like this specially when they’re dancing together, I hope when I’m older I’ll be as happy as them.
*grumble* *grumble*
Ok time for foooood.
I walked to the table pulled the chair out and hopped up and first thing I grabbed is the syrup. You can’t have pancakes without syrup that’s like having a roast dinner without lots and lots of gravy. If you do then you are a demon FACT!!
So, what do you do? YOU DROWN THEM IN SYRUP!!
“Sorren that’s enough syrup, you’re going to make yourself sick.”
“Ok mamma.”
“Son why is your shirt on backwards?”
I looked down confused only to realise I put it on backwards while I was rushing. I wasn’t even embarrassed.
“I was rushing because mamma said if I didn’t hurry you and Ame was going to eat my food” I shrugged.
I put the syrup down jumped off the chair to fix my shirt.
“Here let me help you.”
Papa helped me take my shirt off turned it around.
“Arms up.”
I did just that, he put my shirt back on, fixed my collar then brushed my hair.
“There all done NOW you can eat” he chuckled.
I smiled and went back to my breakfast, my sister sat opposite me her plate empty, so she is currently finishing off her art homework.
She is incredibly talented when it comes to drawing or painting for an eight-year-old but I’m proud that she has an amazing talent, just wish I could be as good at something like her.
“What’s wrong Sorren?” She asked voice full of concern. I finished chewing the food I had in my mouth swallowed then smiled.
“Nothing’s wrong sis just wish I was talented like you with your art”.
She looked at me all annoyed with that deep frown she uses when she’s annoyed like papa.
“Hey, you are talented, you’re smarter than all of the kids in the motherland and you read lots of books out of our age range. If anything, your talent is your knowledge, sometimes I wish that I were as smart as you but then, the old saying pops into my head and I see it that way. I’m the creative one and you’re the smart one, if you thought of an invention and needed to design it then I could do that for you, and if I ever need help trying to figure how much paint or materials, I need for one of my projects you could figure it out for me.”
You know what she is right, so with that thought in mind I smiled brightly and nodded my head at her in agreement, she smiled back and nodded then continued her homework while I finished my food.
Their parents chuckled in the background at their little discussion, they felt proud that their children looked up to each other specially since they were the youngest in all of Terra to get their abilities at such a young age which caused them to mature slightly.
Once the family finished their breakfast the twins collected their school bag, the parents gathered their papers, files and bags for work and headed to the hallway.
Alistair (the farther) helped his son put his shoes and coat on ready to leave them himself, Zena (the mother) did the same for her and her daughter.
Together they left the house locked the door and got into the flying car. It looked like any ordinary car, but it could switch to flight mode where the wheels would fold up underneath, the front would round out and flatten slightly, the headlights turn blue. The car would then hover above the ground until the driver takes off. It made little to no sound except a small humming noise, they buckled up and took off towards the children’s school.

I love taking the car to school it’s the best way to start the day, I like to pretend that I’m riding a wyvern or noybat soaring through the sky like they did in the old days. Plus, it’s fun because I get to see the different neighbourhoods with their square gardens and different coloured rooves, the tall dark spiral glass buildings in the city centre next to the skyscrapers.
You can also see people riding their bikes and horses on the ground. It’s also cool to see others flying around in their cars zipping through the air going about their daily lives. Papa flew through a few clouds like he does every time we take the car to school because he knows it’s my favourite part of flying.
Some of the stories from the old day said that we used to fly on the backs of majestic flying beasts, they described the feeling of flying through the clouds as light and free. That it was soothing for the soul to be at one with their flying companion, soaring through the skies like comets. I like to daydream about the sky races they used to have where everyone with a flyer would compete. You could watch them and see their skills and speeds of the different breeds; our people would train them well for the events. Once they were trained up and that time of year arrived for the sky race festival, they would race through the air like shooting stars.
*sigh*
I wish I could go to the paring grounds to meet my flying companion but, they stopped appearing after what happened in the forest. Ever since then no one has seen any of the ancient beasts for nearly a thousand years.
I just hope that one day in my lifetime I’ll get to meet my companion, I imagine it to be a bat breed with a silver coat, light blue wings, underbelly, ice blue fur around the neck with eyes to match. My bat would be the most majestic and elegant of all.
With that imagine in mind I feel much better I might finally paint him tonight after school, along with what I think my family’s companions would be.
Hehe I’m getting giddy thinking about it hehehe.
