My gaze locked onto the coquettish woman, unwavering as I retorted, "You're next."
A playful giggle escaped her lips. Rather than respond, she taunted the remaining three werewolves, commanding,
"Take her on together."
Perplexed, they questioned, "Huh?" They felt it was beneath them to gang up on a weak girl. After all it had to be Ohm's Carelessness that led to his death.
The woman's tone grew colder, "Do you need me to repeat myself?"
Without hesitation, the werewolves lunged, and the clash unfolded, intensifying as the coquettish woman added insult to injury.
"Prove your pride by ending her..."
Her condescending words hung in the air, intensifying the impending battle, where I stood alone, a beacon of resilience against the approaching tide of adversaries. Although I wasn't afraid of them, I had to admit that taking on three at a time was pushing my boundaries.
"Damn this woman," grumbled one of the rogues, frustration etched on his face.
Another chimed in, "If not for that red wolf of hers, I'd have personally humbled her."
Discontent simmered, someone muttered, "Tsk... I've had enough of her at this point."
Trying to steer the conversation, another said, "Well, let's focus on the job at hand."
A shared understanding emerged and they returned their focus to me, "That's true, the most important thing now is to join the Apoca Rogue camp."
A mischievous chuckle followed from one of them, "Hehehehe, I can't wait."
One of the voices tempered the excitement, "Hehehehe, young lady, don't take it personal, a man's gotta do what he gotta do."
As anticipation hung in the air, the group unified, launching at me, a formidable wave determined to end me.
The moon cast an ethereal glow on my white fur and Seles, my wolf, synchronized with my movements.
"Ready, Seles?" I inquired,
"Let's take them out, Thea," Seles responded, a feral eagerness in her voice. Assured of our readiness, I nodded, steeling myself for the impending clash.
The three rogue wolves circled, teeth bared and eyes ablaze. My agility became my lethal advantage. Swift as a shadow, I danced around their lunges, a blur of calculated movements.
One wolf fell to my expert evasion, another one down.
The other two wolves paused in shock for a moment and I intended to take advantage of that but before I could push into my advantage the victory was short-lived and a searing pain sliced through my thigh.
"Fuck... What was that?" I exclaimed, a flash of red betraying the source – the demonic woman.
Grimacing, I glanced at the woman, who met my gaze with a knowing smirk.
"It's that demonic woman," Seles muttered through gritted teeth. The lady chuckled, licking my blood off her claws.
"Let's go another round, feisty little lady," she taunted.
Despite the pain, I rallied, anticipating the rogue wolves' attacks with preternatural speed. The battlefield transformed into a dance of shadows, a symphony of growls and snarls echoing through the night. The demonic woman observed, amused by my resilience but this time, she didn't interfere.
"f**k you," I spat defiantly. Seles growled, ready for another round of this perilous dance. Although it should have been relatively easier than when I was battling three rogues, that wasn't the case since I was now injured and constantly on guard against that woman.
And due to this, I was realistic, I battled and slowly retreated.
My retreat, swift and assured, turned into a desperate evasion as the remaining two wolves closed in.
Unfortunately My wounded thigh impeded my usual speed, making me lose my greatest advantage not to talk of the blood i constantly bled which would inevitably give away my retreat path.
Amidst the chaos, the red lady reappeared behind me, exploiting the distraction, she sent her claws towards my other thigh.
Seles, sensing the danger, prepared to launch forward, but another wolf intercepted from the front. Helpless realization struck as I found myself trapped between adversaries.
In a moment of dire vulnerability, a massive white wolf emerged, overshadowing me. With incredible strength, it intercepted both claws threatening me. A surreal tableau unfolded, the clash of fangs and claws frozen in time. I, momentarily shielded by the unexpected ally, met the gaze of the white wolf, a silent wave of ease washed through me.
The white wolf stood as a guardian, allowing me a momentary break from the confrontation.
I wondered who it was who had rescued me but I heard a loud and self immersed voice In that moment
"And so, The Great Legend, The Champ of the SilverCrest saves the day."
"Champ?" I tried to recall but I didn't know anyone by that name.
The werewolves however, upon hearing the name SilverCrest, quivered in fear, realizing their impending doom. The wolf introduced himself with grandeur, his proclamation echoed through the forest, even I felt my soul quake.
"s**t, we're done for," one whispered,
while another, panicking, exclaimed,
"f**k, I have to go." It was the last wolf, free from Champ's grasp. He escaped and disappeared into the woods, but immediately a bone-chilling scream emanated from the surrounding bushes. We immediately knew he had met his demise.
"Hahahaha, good for you... Champ never battles alone," the triumphant voice of the huge wolf resonated, reveling in the Rogue's misfortune.
With swift and deliberate movements, Champ subdued both the menacing woman and the other wolf. Expertly tying them up, he turned his attention towards me. His gaze was mischievous and he looked like he was observing every bit of my body.
"Hello, beautiful lady," greeted Champ, his towering form still in wolf shape. I, choosing not to shift back to human form for modesty, bowed in courtesy.
"Thanks for saving me, Mr...."
"Champ. Call me Champ. Lord over ten thousand legions, the one man army, Commander of the Luna Force, Greatest Warrior time has ever witnessed, The one, the only Champ of the Si-"
"Alright, that's enough," I, a tad irritated, cut him off without realizing it.
"Huh?... But I was just getting to the best parts..."
"I apologize," I interjected, trying to rein in his enthusiastic self-praise. Although I still do not know why I feel so free speaking with him without courtesy.
Amidst the lingering echoes of Champ's self-proclaimed grandeur, a robust laughter erupted from the bushes, catching me off guard.
"You don't have to apologize to him; we're all tired of his antics," declared a newcomer emerging from the foliage.
"You're?" I asked
"I'm Jones, his teammate. I apologize if Champ has made you uncomfortable."
"No, it's fine. He saved my life."
Jones nodded and looked around before his gaze settled on my legs.
"Hmm. About that, let's do something about your legs." He said as he stared at my bleeding leg.
It was at that moment that I recalled the bleeding from her wounded thigh.
"Huh" I uttered, inspecting my legs, only to find Jones already attending to the injury. Astonishingly, 80% of the wound had miraculously healed.
"Seles, do you understand what's going on?" I inquired, my confusion mirrored in Seles' eyes.
"I don't know either. But ever since that loud guy came, my blood has been boiling unusually. It probably sped up the healing."
"The loud guy?"
"Yes, the Champ guy," Seles confirmed. I subconsciously glanced at Champ. Immediately I was drawn in and couldn't take my eyes away for some reason.
He seemed to sense my gaze and he turned to look at me. Without hesitation, he smirked at me mischievously
"Oh, miss, I see you're looking at me. You must have fallen for my excellent aura. It is understandable. Very few people are able to withstand—"
Suddenly, Amidst the banter, a sudden kick landed on Champ's leg interrupting him.
"Ouch, Mariah," he exclaimed, rubbing the affected area.
"Enough, Vance. You're making the lady uncomfortable." Mariah's firm reprimand echoed through the clearing, putting an end to Champ's theatrical display.
Mariah had just come out from the woods and she smiled at me, waving her hands.
Jones continued tending to my wounds,
Also The once formidable adversaries now found themselves tied up. However, a red glint flashed across the eyes of the Coquettish lady, hinting at an unresolved tension beneath the surface.
