ALYSSIA POV
As I got back to the basement, which is my bedroom. I walked over to the adjoining laundry room and began doing the washing. There were piles and piles of stuff. There were laundry chutes on each of the floors, so all laundry came here from bed linen to clothes. I started sorting through everything and began filling the washers.
This is the last time I will be here, I think to myself. Just then, Flo looked in and looked at me. “ Tonight's the night girl”, I said to her and she just c****d her head at me, “ We just got to get through this day, then we are off.” The next 12 hours went so fast I didn’t realise it was already 8pm. When I hear my latch open and my dog's bowl full of sludge is placed on the floor. When I first was made to eat this, it would hurt and burn my stomach, but now it doesn’t affect me. It’s the only food I am given. I didn’t even know what it was, even Flo didn't touch it, but when I refused to eat it before Alpha Simon beat me so badly, I couldn’t see out my eyes. They were so swollen. I finished up my food and decided it was best to go straight to sleep. I thought it would be best to get as much rest as I can before I need to put our plan into action.
I drift off to sleep and start dreaming of a pure silver wolf with glowing multi-coloured eyes. It's like her eyes can't figure out what colour they want to be, just as I'm about to walk over to her, her ears stand up and she turns around and bolts. "What the hell” I say under my breath. I turned around to see what could have frightened her. That’s when I see a woman. A beautiful woman with long white hair and eyes that shine bright like the moon. But before I could ask her who she was, I was woken up with a sharp pain in my nose.
“OUCH!” “FLO why the hell did you do that?” she nods at the clock on the wall. It's 2:30 am. “s**t I have over slept”. I don’t know how Flo knew the time but she can do weird stuff. I jump up and grab my backpack and chuck on as many of the old warm clothes I have saved. It's winter, so it's below freezing outside. I have an old hoodie that has a pocket that goes right across the front that I put Flo in. I slung the backpack over my shoulder and crept into the kitchen. Good no one's here. I pull back the kickboard and fill my back pack with the food before doing it up and putting it on my back “no time like the present” I whisper to myself as I creep out the back door and run for the tree line I got around 15 minutes to get to the pack boards before the guards make there next patrol the boarder is about 1.5 miles away from the pack house which is stupid seeing as if there was an attack the pack house would be hit first and that’s where to vulnerable are put most packs have their pack house in the centre.
I run as fast as my skinny legs can take me, not letting the branches slow me down. I got to the boards and hid behind a bush. I peeked around to see if I saw any guards. Nope. I made a run for it. Just as I crossed the border, I heard a guard shout “THERES A RUNNER”
“s**t” I pant and push my legs faster. I criss-cross around the forest, leaping here, there and everywhere, trying to confuse my scent as I know wolves are sensitive to smell. I ran in the opposite direction as I wanted to go. My plan was to head for the mountains in the north but I headed south to throw them off. I ran for about 20 minutes before I turned to the east before running that for a while before heading back up to the north. Just as I think I'm clear, I hear a howl “for f**k's sake really”. I said out loud and ran as fast as I could. I needed to hit the mountains where there is snow. I could lose them there. I hear paws running behind me. Please God or goddess don’t let them catch me. I ran and kept on running. I saw a ball of brown fun running off to the side of me." s**t s**t s**t". I pushed harder and harder, "come on!", just as I felt like they were going to catch me. Everything goes silent. They stop? What the hell? I didn’t ponder it for long and just thanked the gods for whatever they did. I kept on running till I hit the foot of the mountain. By now I'm exhausted. I have been running all day. I feel like I can almost see spots of darkness. I need to rest. I threw my backpack on the ground and checked on Flo. She was still safely in my pocket pouch. It's like the running didn’t even bother her. Right, fire and cover. I think I walked around a little till I found a cave. "Right, that’s cover Flo now. Just fire”. I put my bag down and took Flo out of my pocket whilst I gathered some firewood. I sat down and made a little pit for my fire and pulled the lighter out of my pocket. “I hope you don’t mind Flo, but I'm going to sleep” I said before I passed out into darkness.
