3- Hurt

Mate’s POV “Are you sure that you need to leave? You could go back inside with us for a while.” Was what Alan said to me, he only happens to be the most handsome man I’ve ever laid my eyes on. “Or we could stay out here, talk for a bit, make sure you’re not hurting from your fall, and enjoy the night air.” Quickly added Aliane, the beautiful girl, the one that finally confirmed my suspicions about being bi-s****l, the exact reason why I had finally gotten over my shyness and came out here tonight. I wanted to be around men and women in general and see which one I liked more. It turned out it was both. If someone stopped time right now and asked me to pick one of the twins, I wouldn’t have been able to choose either one of them, they’re both too alluring. This was getting intense; I needed to leave. “Oh, no, I wouldn’t want to impose. I was just meeting a friend that had a last-minute family situation and had to cancel our plans, so now I’m going home, but thanks, plus I’m fine, nothing hurts.” I gave them a little smile, to help with the “nothing hurts” little act. The truth is that my left ankle was throbbing, but they didn’t need to know that. They smiled back, and my knees almost gave up. At that point, I wasn’t sure if I had the will to leave. “Ahem.” We heard someone clear their throat, and standing behind them were another pair of what looked to me to be siblings, both with brown hair, brown eyes, and the same facial features. But the twins didn’t even look back, they just kept staring at me. “See, your dates are looking for you, I’m just going home.” I told them. “They’re not our dates!” Said both, Aliane and Alan, at the same time. That made the new pair laugh and had them groaning, and then they both said “twins”, while pointing at each other. Now that had me chuckling, I knew they were related, they looked almost like a replica of each other, but now I know they’re actually twins. How cute! “They’re not our dates, just childhood friends.” Said Aliane, her eyes rolled back like everyone thought the same and she was tired of having to give the same explanation over and over. “And we don’t always say the same thing at the same time, only sometimes, we’re only identical twins that grew up together, it's bound to happen.” Added Alan, with a cute smirk on his face and a little shoulder shrug. This was getting to be too much. The shy, introverted me couldn’t handle all this at once. My heart wanted to come out through my mouth, my hands were sweating, and I can’t forget how good it felt to hold their hands. That was crazy. For someone that wasn’t very fond of physical contact, theirs, I wouldn’t be mad about. “This is my brother, Ray, and I’m Dany, and like Ane said, we’re just childhood friends. Nice to meet you, but I didn’t catch your name.” Came from the girl in the yellow floral dress, Dany. “Oh, sorry, I actually forgot to say it, I’m Sam, nice to meet you as well, Dany. Well, enjoy the rest of your night.” I tried taking a step, but had forgotten the pain in my left ankle, and started to fall down, again. I should promise to stop embarrassing myself in front of people, but my clumsy feet never seem to get the memo, no matter how hard I try. So, I braced myself for a second fall within 10 minutes of the first, but it never came. When I opened my eyes, the twins were both holding me, one on each side of me, their faces close to mine, and their arms wrapped around mine. “Are you alright, Sam, I thought nothing was hurting.” Said Alan with what sounded to me like real concern. That had me doing a double take and looking into his eyes a little longer than I’m used to. I almost got lost in his eyes. They were light grey and bright, it was difficult to take my eyes away. “I, I, yeah, hmm, I guess that I didn’t feel anything before I tried to walk.” I said while lowering my gaze and feeling my cheeks heating up. “It’s alright, we get it, sometimes adrenaline doesn’t let us feel pain. No need to explain yourself too much. Just lean on us, we’ll sit you down.” Said Aliane, who’s eyes had almost the same light grey color as her twin brother, but with a slightly different pattern in the speckles, I guess someone had to be as close as I currently am to realize those small differences. Thinking about the closeness made me realize that I was intensely staring into her eyes. She kept her eyes trained on me as well, letting me ogle her as much as I wanted, without saying anything. She’s beautiful. I got so embarrassed that I dropped my head. They never stopped holding me, just turned slightly and rearranged me so that I had each arm over one of them around their shoulders, while their hands wrapped around my waist. The twins started to guide me towards a large black SUV, while the other siblings guided us, and Ray opened the trunk. I was seated in the trunk, it kind of made me feel like a kid, when they fall and their mom sits them in the trunk to check the injuries. Dany was using her cellphone flashlight so that Alan and Alaine could check me for any other injuries. “Sammy, sunshine, which leg hurts?” Alaine’s voice was concerned and her endearing name had me lifting my head and looking into her eyes, those eyes, until I remembered that I had been asked a question. “My left ankle, I think.” I said in a low voice while lowering my view. “Darling, can I remove your left shoe? I promise to be gentle.” Came from Alan, to which I only gave a small nod, not daring to even look at him. He took away my gold platform heels, the only pair of fancy enough shoes that I could wear with this dress, which had been a gift from my brother. His hand just made me forget about the pain; it just made me feel things that I couldn’t understand. How is this possible? I bet my cheeks were the same color as my red dress now. “Sammy, does it still hurt, or is it better now?” Alaine asked me while Alan rubbed small circles on my ankle. It just felt delightful, but I was so embarrassed. With a very low voice, I said, “I, I really don’t know how, but it feels so much better now, it’s incredible. You are both the best, thank you. I think I really should get going now.” “Please don’t, I don’t want to seem pushy or imposing, and if you feel unsafe next to us, we’ll let you go, but we don’t think that you should drive right after hurting your ankle, or even walk. It needs some rest. Just let us take care of you for a bit longer, it's not even 10pm yet, you have plenty of time before your carriage turns back into a pumpkin, sunshine.” Ranted Aliane, fast-paced, like she had rather run out of breath than not explaining before I disappeared. I outright giggled, like a five-year-old. No one had ever tried to keep me close so hard, neither had they called me Cinderella. They both looked at me, and I just couldn’t decide which pair of eyes I liked better. “Well, I think you’re not ax murderers, but even if I needed to be rescued, I’m certainly no princess.” Was all I could manage to say back. “I disagree, you put any princess to shame, PRINCESS.” Smirked Alan smoothly. “Brother, I think we shouldn’t tease her too much, any redder and the dress will look pale in comparison.” It was Aliane’s throw at her brother, while she gently elbowed him, but based on her half smile I think that was another tease, they are too much for me. I lowered my head and just focused on breathing, which I had forgotten for a moment, because they wouldn’t stop looking at me, and somewhere deep inside, I didn’t want them to stop.
