After ending the call, Violet was overwhelmed by a whirlwind of emotions. Damon’s words replayed in her mind, deepening her sadness. *Why am I feeling this way? It’s just a contract marriage. Why would he... why would he love me?* Tears streamed down her face as she locked herself in her room, feeling isolated and heartbroken.
At 9 o'clock, Damon burst into the mansion, his voice filled with urgency. “Violet, I’m back!”
When he received no response, his panic escalated. He rushed through the house, calling out desperately, “Violet? Where are you? Please, answer me!”
His anxiety mounted with each empty room he checked. “Violet, where are you? You’re scaring me!”
Finally, he reached her room. Seeing her still form on the bed, he let out a shaky breath of relief but his worry didn’t fade. He approached her quickly, frustration and fear evident in his voice.
As he reached her side, he knelt beside the bed, his voice tinged with anger and panic. “Why weren’t you responding to me? I thought… I thought I lost you, Violet!” His words came out in a strained, emotional rush.
When Violet remained still, pretending to be asleep, Damon took a deep breath to calm himself. He looked at her with a mix of exasperation and tenderness. “Didn’t you say you’d wait for me? Have you fallen asleep?” His tone softened, filled with genuine concern.
He gently touched her hair, his voice dropping to a soothing whisper. “You skipped my heartbeat for a moment, Violet. Never do this to me again, okay?” His hand moved from her hand to her cheek, his touch gentle and reassuring. “Good girl,” he murmured.
Damon held her hand tightly, his grip showing just how scared and relieved he was. He remained kneeling beside the bed, his posture reflecting his deep worry and need to stay close. He settled into that position, unwilling to let go of her hand as he stayed there through the night.
Violet’s eyes fluttered open, feeling the warmth of his presence and the intensity of his touch. As she looked at him, she realized how deeply she had fallen for him.
With a mix of sadness and determination, she knew she needed to take some time away to process her feelings. *I need a few days to figure this out. Maybe then I can understand everything.*
As Damon stayed by her side, kneeling beside the bed, his hand still holding hers, Violet felt comforted yet conflicted, her emotions swirling as she faced the reality of her growing attachment.
The next morning, Violet woke up and saw Damon still holding her hand tightly. She was moved by the gesture but knew she needed to step away to manage her feelings.
Quietly, she gently withdrew her hand and went to write a letter. She wrote a brief note and placed it by his side, ensuring he would see it when he woke.
Before leaving for her parents' house, Violet looked back at Damon and kissed his forehead softly. Whispering, she said, “Take care of yourself when I’m not by your side, okay?” With a sad smile, she left early in the morning.
When Damon woke up, he immediately searched for Violet, calling her name anxiously. Panic grew as he realized she was nowhere to be found. His worry eased slightly when he discovered the letter she had left:
“I’m going to my parents' home for a few days due to some reasons. Don’t worry about me and take care of yourself, okay?”
Damon felt a mix of confusion, sadness, and a bit of relief. Her absence made him miss her more than he had expected.
As Violet was on her way to her parents' house, she accidentally bumped into someone. Looking up, she saw a man she didn’t recognize.
“Oh, I’m so sorry!” Violet said with a polite smile.
The man, Adrian, was struck by her kindness and felt an immediate attraction, though he had no idea she was Damon’s wife. “It’s... it’s okay,” he replied, watching her as she walked away.
After a moment of hesitation, Adrian called out, "Hey, wait a second!"
Violet turned around, a little surprised. "Yes?"
"Do you need a ride? I can drop you off if you don’t mind," Adrian offered, trying to sound casual, though his heart raced a little.
Violet hesitated but then gave a small nod. "Sure, thanks."
As she got into his car, they exchanged light conversation. Adrian, curious and captivated by her, eventually asked, “What’s your name?”
“Violet,” she answered, smiling warmly.
Adrian smiled back, but before he could say anything else, they arrived at her parents' house. Violet thanked him sincerely, then stepped out of the car and walked inside, eager to surprise her parents.
Meanwhile, Rose, who had long harbored feelings for Adrian, decided it was time to tell him. She called him, and Adrian, still in the good mood from his encounter with Violet, agreed to meet her.
When they met, their conversation was polite but filled with underlying tension. After a few moments of silence, Rose gathered her courage. "Adrian," she began, her voice shaky but determined, "I need to tell you something."
Adrian looked at her, sensing the seriousness in her tone. "What is it, Rose?"
"I like you... I mean, really like you. Will you be my boyfriend?" Rose blurted out, her heart pounding.
Adrian’s eyes widened in shock. He hadn’t seen this coming. "Rose... I... I never saw you that way. I’ve always thought of you as a sister," he said gently, but the words felt like a punch to Rose's heart.
Rose’s face fell, her strength crumbling. She forced a smile, though her eyes were glossy with unshed tears. "I understand," she whispered, turning away quickly before he could see her cry. She walked away, her heart aching, leaving Adrian standing there, unsure of what to do or say.
Adrian and Violet began spending time together casually, and with each encounter, Adrian found himself falling harder for her. He was only troubled by Rose's sudden silence, which left him wondering if he’d done something wrong. On the other hand, Damon, who had been swamped with work, finally decided he couldn’t wait any longer to see Violet. He missed her terribly and planned to surprise her with a visit.
He brought Rose along, and they stopped by the market to pick up some gifts for Violet. Excitement and anticipation filled Damon as they made their way to her parents’ house. But when they arrived, she wasn’t there. Growing concerned, they searched for her, eventually finding her in a park—talking to another man. Damon’s stomach twisted with a surge of jealousy, and as he got closer, his heart sank when he recognized the man. It was Adrian.
The realization hit him like a brick. He exchanged a look of shock with Rose, who seemed just as stunned. His world felt like it was crumbling. The jealousy burning within him was unlike anything he’d ever felt before.
“Violet!” Damon’s voice rang out, sharp and furious.
Violet turned at the sound, confused and defensive. “Damon? What’s going on?”
“What’s going on?” His voice was cold, each word dripping with anger. “What are you doing here with this stranger, Violet?”
Violet frowned, trying to keep her composure. “He’s not a stranger, Damon. He’s my friend.”
Damon’s eyes blazed with fury, his voice cutting like a knife. “Do you have any idea who the hell he is? He’s our biggest rival, Adrian Miracle!”
Violet’s heart skipped a beat as the color drained from her face. “Wait… what?”
