Chapter 5

1041 Words
Enrico swam to the shore, carrying the suitcase he had found. But suddenly, he felt something touch his leg. "What is it?" he murmured, trying to look into the water. Something was passing by, surrounding him. It was big and had sharp fins. It was a shark. Enrico tried to swim as fast as he could. However, he was being chased until suddenly, the shark bit his leg and pulled him into the sea. His heart was beating fast, but he tried to stay calm. Things would get more chaotic if he panicked. The shark was carrying him around, and Enrico searched for a way to escape the marine mammal's bite. His breath began to come in gasps, and water continued to enter his mouth, making it increasingly difficult for his lungs to breathe. The reddish color of the seawater made Valerie realize something was wrong. She moved on and found him struggling against a shark. "Enrico, hang on!" she said, unsure how to help him. His strength was weakening, but he didn't give up. He didn't want his history to end in this place. The growing pain in his left leg hampered his movements. The shark continued to move swiftly, making it difficult for him to fight back. He tried his best to hit its snout with the suitcase but to no avail. Instead, he was attacked even more ferociously. Enrico's head began to feel heavy; his vision slowly became foggy. In this condition, he immediately remembered a friend's message that if a shark attacked him, he should stab the eyes, nose, or mouth because these are the most sensitive parts of the shark's body. But he realized how to do that. He couldn't even free his leg. With what strength he had left, Enrico stretched out his hand, trying to reach one of the animal's weak points. Just as he was about to succeed, the shark pulled him back into the water. Enrico struggled as the water quickly entered his mouth, causing the suitcase in his grasp to slip out. Slowly, his hands stiffened; he knew it was dangerous. Once again, he tried to reach the shark's eyes, and once he did, he jabbed his finger. The shark suddenly let go of Enrico's leg. He seized the opportunity to escape. He swam away, grabbing his suitcase before returning to the shore. Valerie ran over to him, pleased to see that Enrico had managed to save himself. However, she suddenly screamed and immediately covered her eyes with both hands. "Hey, why are you screaming?" Enrico looked surprised. "Look at that! You must have done it on purpose, right?" Valerie pointed to his lower body. Enrico looked down to find his jeans and abrasion ripped to shreds, clearly exposing his private area. He immediately covered it with his suitcase. How did he not realize that? It's so stupid! "You wait here and don't open your eyes until I tell you to," he said, running towards the coconut tree. Silently, Valerie peeked through the slits in her fingers that covered her eyes. She saw the man with a fairly handsome face climb the coconut tree, take a few leaves, and wrap them around his waist. "You look so sexy in those new pants," she taunts with a teasing glance when he comes back. "Why are you open your eyes, I wouldn't have told you to yet," he said. Valerie didn't answer; she just smiled at him, who now looked like Tarzan. Enrico then walked towards the cottage. His steps seemed hobbled. "I will treat you." Valerie approached, cleaning the blood from his injured leg and arm. "Ouch, slow down. It stings so much," Enrico whimpered. "Sorry," said Valerie, who could see piercing blue eyes. She never thought he had such beautiful eyes. The atmosphere instantly became awkward. Enrico, carried away by the atmosphere, brought his face closer, returning her gaze. Slowly, their lips approached, touched, and sank into each other's warmth. However, Enrico immediately stopped the kiss. He shouldn't have done that. "Sorry, I didn't mean to be impolite to you." "It wasn't entirely your fault," Valerie said, realizing she wanted that to happen too. She then turned her gaze towards the black suitcase he had been carrying. "I found it adrift at sea," Enrico told her before she could ask. Enrico then tried to open the suitcase, but it was not as easy as he thought. There was a special code to release the safety lock. "Could it be that the code is the arrangement of numbers depicted here?" Valerie pointed at the logo engraved on the front of the suitcase. It seemed highly unlikely that the secret code would be so clearly displayed, but it couldn't hurt to try. Enrico's guess was correct; the suitcase still couldn't open. Enrico paused for a moment, taking in the arrangement of the numbers. He smiled slightly, then entered the first two numbers and the last two randomly, and it worked! The suitcase opened. But it wasn't Valerie, and he had imagined. It was just a suitcase containing two novels. Enrico shook the suitcase again and could still hear something inside, meaning more stuff could be inside. A small button was tucked inside the fabric lining. He pressed it and saw the suitcase's side open. Enrico and Valerie found a dress, a T-shirt, and some medicine. They smiled, grateful for what they had found. "Wait a minute, there's something tucked in here," Valerie chirped, picking up a flat object under the novel. It was a microchip. What was it being kept in the suitcase for? "We should keep it. Who knows, it might come in handy later," said Enrico, looking away as the sun shone hotter and hotter, making the air around the sea feel heat and more blinding. However, looking towards the island's end, something was spotted amongst the shrubs. It looked like a figure from last night but a little shorter. Enrico rubbed his eyes, looked back in the same direction, and still saw the figure—this time more clearly. Yes, it was indeed a human! Valerie unexpectedly waved and shouted, "Hello!" The figure turned around. Realizing it was a bad idea, Enrico immediately grabbed her, dragging her out of sight.
