You Are Mine

I tried to call my wolf. To shift and rip his throat open but nothing. I felt nothing. “Why can’t I reach my wolf? Why does it feel like she’s being trapped somewhere inside me?” I asked, my mind still hysterical and in panic. Simon exhaled roughly when he saw the tears rolling down my face. He rolled away from me, his eyes dark with guilt and disappointment, which made me more terrified. “It must be from the concussion you suffered after the incident, love. You almost died in my arms that day.” He shook his head gently. “I wish I could just give you back every bit of your memory but I can’t. All I am asking is for you to trust me, Astrid.” He turned to look me in the face with a softness in his eyes that I didn’t expect. “I wish I could take all that pain away.” "Then, if you are telling me the truth, where is my family?” I asked him, a little calmer than before. I pulled my legs up to my chest, still scared and agitated. “When was the first time we ever met?” “You came from an orphanage.” He answered. “The facility where Omega orphans are taken care of after their parents died in the war. You grew up in that place... until we met at a university abroad.” I didn't know why my chest was heavy as I listened to him. But I continued, "How… How was I when you first saw me?” Simon smiled at me and my heart started to beat fast inside my chest as I saw how his gorgeous smile reached his eyes. “Well, you were bullied that day, actually. I just came there to rescue you.” “I don’t believe you.” I hissed at him. He didn’t answer. He just stared at me with darkness in his eyes and I wish I could read whatever was in his head. “I am your Luna. Let me enter your mind! Let me see the truth!” I demanded with a steely voice. He shook his head and swung his feet out of the bed. I watched him slip his hands into the pocket of his pants and look at me through his nose. That condescending, ruthless stare made his stories contrast to that lovey-dovey story he was trying me to believe. “There are too many terrible things in my head that you would wish you never had asked about peeking inside my thoughts, my pumpkin, Luna. But I believe you can feel it as well as I do. As clear as crystal. That you are my mate. My wife. And nothing can change that.” I shuddered. I didn’t know why my heart wanted to believe him. But my instinct told me otherwise. His touch, his scent, everything about him—they were new to me. Perhaps it was because of my lost memories? I closed my eyes. Shut it tight. Tried to remember everything. Anything. Just a glimpse of him from my past. Nothing. Only tears ran down my face. Simon sighed and then climbed back to bed, looking helpless as I silently cried in front of him. He cupped my face with one calloused hand. His breath was uneven. His heart was hammering inside his chest. It was as if he was the one who was being tortured between us. My eyes studied Alpha Simon’s face. His dark, wavy hair and his turquoise eyes have captivated me since the very second our eyes locked when I woke up in his place. “You told me I was safe. Is… is there someone who wants to hurt me?” I asked him, averting my eyes from his gorgeous face. Not letting him confuse me with his striking looks. He lowered his hand from my face. “I am an Alpha. I have enemies everywhere, pumpkin,” he purred. I could still feel his eyes on me, making my shoulders tense. My heart beat a roll of thunder in my chest. “That’s why I have to keep you here in my rest house for a bit. I have to make sure you are feeling well once I get back to my duties.” “Why me?” My furrow deepened. Still, it didn’t make any sense to me. “You told me I was an orphan. An Omega. There is no way your pack would accept a low-life she-wolf like me. You... everything you are telling me makes no sense!” “Do I have to explain?” he answered me with a question that raised another anger in me. But before I could bark at him, Simon had already pinned me against the bed and sniffed on my neck so loudly that I gasped. His body pressed roughly against mine, his fingers gentle on my wrists. A possessive Alpha. “Do I have to explain everything, Astrid?” His lips brushed below my ear, making the hairs on my nape stand, my mouth dry as I breathed hard against his shoulder, “YOU ARE MY MATE.” He snarled against my neck. “And whatever explanation there is, there is only one thing that is real. YOU ARE MINE.” I shut my eyes. Yes, he was right. I felt the bond like an igniting ember that started a fire inside my body. My back arched, and my breath was fast and uneven. He was mine. I was his. Perhaps that was the only answer I needed to shut down the fear in my confused head. I was about to concede to him when he pulled away from me and snatched his jacket from the chair near the bed. My eyes were wide as I watched him walk towards the door. “Where are you going?” I asked, still panting. My long, wavy hair was messy behind my shoulders. “My Beta just called me through the mind-link. I think it is best if you get more rest, pumpkin.” His turquoise eyes glinted in the dark. “Maybe when you are feeling well, we can continue this.” His eyes scanned my body with desire until I realized I was only wearing a thin silk nightgown that was almost transparent under the silver shine of the moonlight piercing through the huge glass windows of the room. “Sleep well, my Astrid.” He murmured and then he left. “
