Shin Ya Jun, trying to maintain his composure, greeted him with a bow. "What an honor for my family to welcome you, Mr. Shen. What can I help you with?" "Where is your daughter?" Hao Ming asked curtly, his impatience barely concealed. Shin Ya Jun, confused, replied, "I have my daughter Cindy here," pulling her forward. "Not this one," Hao Ming snapped, his gaze cold and piercing. "The other one." Shin Ya Jun felt a chill run down his spine. He knew that Lola could bring doom upon his family at any moment. "I apologize if my older daughter has offended you. I will ensure she is punished for any disrespect." "I want to talk to Lola. I will handle this myself. Where is she?" Hao Ming's voice was icy, sending shivers down the spine of everyone present, even Cindy, who felt a sudden wave of goosebumps. Shin Ya Jun quickly ordered a maid to summon Lola. The maid rushed to Lola's bedroom, knocking urgently. "Miss Lola, your father has asked for you. Someone important is waiting downstairs," the maid explained. Lola, groggy from sleep, was irritated by the disturbance. She stretched her aching body, cursing the man from last night as she felt the soreness from their intense encounter. She changed out of her pajamas into a pair of baggy pants and sprayed on some perfume to mask any remaining scent of the night before. Gathering her composure, she made her way downstairs, each step a reminder of the turbulent emotions swirling within her. As she descended the stairs, the air grew thick with tension. She saw her father, mother, Cindy, and a group of unfamiliar yet intimidating men. But it was the sight of Shen Hao Ming that stopped her in her tracks. His eyes locked onto hers with an intensity that made her heart race. "Lola," her father began, his voice shaking slightly. "Mr. Shen wishes to speak with you." Hao Ming stepped forward, his gaze never leaving Lola. "We need to talk," he said, his voice low and commanding. Lola nodded, trying to steady her breathing. "Of course," she replied, her voice calm despite the storm inside her. Without another word, Hao Ming took her hand and led her out of the mansion, leaving her family gobsmacked and unable to protest. They watched in stunned silence as he guided her to his car, the gravity of the situation sinking in too late. Once inside the Rolls-Royce, Hao Ming turned to her. "My name is Shen Hao Ming," he began, his tone softer now but still firm. "I want you to come with me. We have much to discuss." Lola looked at him, her mind racing. "Why should I trust you?" she asked, her voice steady despite the fear gnawing at her insides. Hao Ming's eyes softened slightly. "Because I can protect you. And because you deserve to know the truth about what happened last night." Her heart pounded in her chest, but she nodded. "Alright. I’ll go with you." As the car pulled away from the Shin Mansion, Shen Hao Ming explained everything to Lola. He told her how she had been drugged and how he had been drawn to her, not because of her family or her wealth, but because he felt an inexplicable connection to her. He left out the details of his vast wealth and power, wanting her to see him as a man first. Lola listened, absorbing his words. She was shocked but also intrigued by this man who seemed to have come out of nowhere to rescue her from a life she had felt trapped in. When they arrived at a private, luxurious residence, Hao Ming led her inside, his grip on her hand firm but gentle. Inside, he turned to face her. "I want to make you an offer," he said, his voice earnest. "Marry me. Let me protect you and give you the life you deserve. I know this is sudden, but I believe we can make this work." Lola was taken aback. "Marry you?" she repeated, incredulous. "But we hardly know each other." "I know," Hao Ming admitted. "But I also know that what happened last night wasn't just a fluke. There was something real between us, and I believe we can build on that." Lola's mind whirled. This was a man who had saved her, who was offering her a way out of her family's manipulations and the misery she had endured. And despite the absurdity of the situation, she felt a strange sense of peace with him. "Alright," she said finally. "I’ll marry you." A flicker of relief crossed Hao Ming’s face. "Good. Now, let’s get this over with." True to his word, Lin Tao had already prepared the necessary documents. By the end of the day, Lola and Shen Hao Ming were legally married, their union solidified in a ceremony that was swift but filled with a sense of destiny. As they settled into their new reality, Lola found herself unexpectedly comfortable with Hao Ming. He was attentive and caring, ensuring she had everything she needed and more. For the first time in her life, she felt valued and safe. That night, as they lay together, Hao Ming held her close, his voice a soft murmur in the darkness. "I promise to protect you, Lola. And I promise that we will face whatever comes our way together." Lola nestled into his embrace, her heart full of hope. She knew there would be challenges ahead, but with Hao Ming by her side, she felt ready to face them. Her past might have been filled with pain and betrayal, but her future was now intertwined with a man who vowed to stand by her, no matter what. As she drifted off to sleep, a sense of security enveloped her. Yet, in the quiet of the night, Hao Ming’s phone buzzed with a message. He glanced at it, his expression darkening momentarily. A new threat loomed on the horizon, one that neither of them had anticipated. Hao Ming looked down at the sleeping Lola, his resolve hardening. They would face this together, but he couldn’t help but wonder how much more turmoil lay ahead. The battle for their future had only just begun, and as the shadows gathered outside, he knew that the peace they had found was fragile, hanging by a thread. In the depths of the night, the first whispers of a storm began to stir, hinting at the trials that were yet to come.
