1 I dodged between the carts, trying not to knock anything off. Kind of. If I did, then there was a chance I'd manage to get something to eat without having to beg for it. On the other hand, most of the vendors would shout abuse at me for brushing the wares off their cart. "Out of the way, girl," someone growled at me. A scowl marred my face. I knew it was better if everyone thought I was a child, but somehow, that didn't make it easier when they did. It was an easy mistake to make, given how short and sleight I was. I'd long assumed I had some fairy blood in me, though it had been diluted down to the point where there was almost none of it left.
