LENA'S POV
It was the man from last night. His huge figure towered above us like a dark cloud. He was dressed in black.
My father's eyes widened in fear, his lips trembling like he had just seen the devil. "S Salvatore Oscuro," my father stuttered.
My father's face turned white. I have never seen him this scared before.
The man snarled. " Mikhail, so we meet again?"
I saw two men hovering around Salvatore Oscuro. They were heavily armed like we were about to go to war.
It sent cold shivers down my spine. What has my father gotten himself into?
Then he took slow strides towards my father. My eyes darted around the waiting room, the visitors in the waiting room had fled for their lives.
I would have done the same but I can't leave my father.
"P Please, I beg of you. Give me more time. I will pay you," my father whimpered.
He threw his head backward and let out a cruel laughter. That reverberated through the waiting room. It seemed as though we were the only ones in the hospital.
His presence was dominating and intimidating.
"You think I am a fool? You were given three f*****g months to pay up. This is the fifth month and you're yet to pay a cent," he barked.
"I know, I know. I just need more time. I have 2000 dollars in my account. You can have it," my father blurted out.
He glared at my father. " You worthless piece of s**t. You know I don't joke with my time and money. You owe me five hundred thousand dollars !!! What can two thousand dollars possibly do?"
My father went on his knees as he kept pleading with him. "I am sorry. Just forgive me. I promise to pay up. I will raise your money. Please, be patient with me."
In one full swift motion, he slapped my father hard on his face. I gasped and ran to him.
"Father, are you okay?" I lifted my father who had fallen to the floor from the impact of the slap. He was bleeding from his mouth from a slight cut.
Rage coursed through my veins. " You so despicable, leave my father," I yelled.
He chuckled. "You, I remember you. Stay away from this. You'll get into trouble. Tell your scum of a father to pay me. He owes me a huge amount. If he doesn't pay me, I will send him to his maker," he thundered.
"Lena, please stay out of this. Let me handle it. I don't want to see you hurt.
"Father," I protested.
"Lena, this is no sport. This man is more dangerous than you think. I don't want you in trouble," my father cautioned. He was gasping for breath.
"You heard your father back off and stay quiet or I'll have your head on a platter," his cold words sliced through me.
Tears streamed down my face. I was dejected and consumed with rage. But I was helpless. I knew that any wrong move would spell doom for my family and me.
"Rio," Salvatore called out in his loud voice.
I jumped at the sound of his voice. It was cold like frosty ice.
One of his henchmen answered. "Ci Capone."
Did they just address him as Capone? Then realization dawned on me. He is a mafia boss!!
My love for the Italian crime series aided my knowledge of this information. So my father owes a mafia boss out of the billions of humans on Earth.
This was a fate worse than death. How did my father get into this?
He nodded his head as if to pass a code. Rio, his henchman passed him a pistol.
Then he pressed the pistol on my father's temple. My father was shivering as he blinked back tears.
"Now tell me Mikhail, how do you want to die? Gunshot, miaming, strangled, buried alive, choose wisely," he thundered in rage. " I do not forgive a debt. You either pay or die."
"Please, Salvatore Oscuro. I don't want to die," my father voiced out in fear.
"You should have thought of that before coming to get a loan. You promised to pay. I work hard for every single penny I have. If I am wasteful and careless with money like you. I would have ended up in the street begging for alms."
"I lost it in an investment. I thought I would make a profit. But I lost it all," my father managed to say.
"Investment, huh? What do you know about investment? I bet you blew it away on frivolous lifestyle," Salvatore pressed the pistol hard on my father's temple.
My heartbeat had increased with tremendous speed. I could not believe all that was about to happen. My mother is still lying in the theatre currently undergoing surgery.
I do not want to lose my parents. I was drenched in sweat.
I was trembling in fear. He c****d the gun, about to pull the trigger.
"No!!! Please don't," I cried.
He turned his gaze at me. His cold piercing eyes levelled me up like I was a tiny wasp that could be squashed.
"Do not interrupt me. I hate it when I am interrupted," he spat.
"Please, don't kill my father," I pleaded.
He removed the gun from my father's temple and glared at me.
"What can you do to save them, your father especially?" he growled.
I stared at him, surprised at his words.
"Answer the damn question," he barked.
"Anything, yes anything," I whispered.
"Lena, stay out of this. You're no match for him. He's the devil himself," my father warned.
Salvatore ran his eyes through my body and licked his lips. " Mikhail, your daughter is such a beauty. Let's strike a deal."
"What deal?" my father asked, his voice laced with fear.
"One that will be beneficial. I am not so bad. I deal squarely with offenders. But I can let go if I have something in exchange for that."
"I don't understand," my father said.
Salvatore passed the gun to his henchman and put his hands in his pocket. Eyeing me like I was some candy. "I want her."
