Chapter 5

1060 Words
LENA’S POV I need to escape from this place. I knew how dangerous it could be, but remaining here was not an option. Salvatore would continue having me every night and that's not the future I want. He may be a wealthy businessman with companies scattered across the globe. But beneath all that, lies a heartless beast who runs one of the deadliest mafia organizations. He was feared and revered. Most of his enemies were crushed by his wrath as no one dared him and got away with it. I still have some money left to leave the country with my family. Thoughts of escaping filled my mind. I did not know when I slept off. That morning, I woke up to the golden sun rays piercing through the window. I covered my face with my hands. Underneath the sheet, I was lying naked. The events of last night came rushing back to my mind. I remembered the way he handled my body yesterday. Salvatore may be a mean beast. But that man sure knows how to have s*x. He will return for more. And I can't even fight him off. I was angry at the fact that I am nothing to him but a c*m bucket and his s*x tool. I was determined to change all of that. I got up from the bed and had a quick shower. I opened the wardrobe and picked a simple dress to put on. My head was in a tight ponytail. I was itching to go outside to have a better view of the mansion. I tried opening the door, pushing hard but it yielded no result. That was when it dawned on me. That monster had me locked in my room as if I were a prisoner of war. Heck! I banged on the door continuously and yelled at the top of my voice. No one answered me. I became tired from shouting. So I sat on the bed, my eyes were filled with tears as they streamed down my face. I was sad, thinking of my mother in the hospital. I had no idea if she survived the surgery or not. My eyes scanned the room, there was no phone in the room. Nothing important that would help me. I didn't even know what time it was as there was no wall clock in the room. The door finally opened and Saloni walked in holding a tray of food. The delicious aroma of the food wafted through the air. My stomach rumbled realising how hungry I was. "Hello, Lena. Hope you slept well?" Saloni said as she handed the tray to me. Looking at the food, I blurted. "Why am I being locked up like a petty thief?" "I can't talk. It's not in my place to discuss such issues with you." I dropped the tray on the bed, ignoring my hunger pangs. "Please, I need you to help me. I need to call my father." She looked at me, hesitating. "Please, please. My mother is at the hospital. I need to know how her surgery went. I beg of you. Help me." She quickly locked the door, I could see that she was scared. Then she handed her cell phone to me. "Hurry up please, I don't want to incur his wrath," Saloni's voice had a twinge of urgency and fear. I dialed my father's number and he picked up the second ring. "Hello," I heard him say. "Father, it's Lena. I don't have much time to speak. I just want to know how Mother's surgery went and to check up on you," I spoke in a hushed tone. "Lena, I am glad to hear from you. Your mother's surgery went well. I am still in the hospital with her. I intend on going home to get a few things. Are you alright?" I heard footsteps approaching the door and quickly, I handed the phone to Saloni who was fast enough to hide her phone in her pocket. The door opened and Salvatore's bodyguard came in. He glared at us. "Saloni, Capone would like to have a word with you." She followed him and the door was locked. After eating. I stood up and walked towards the window. I noticed that I could jump through the window. My heart kept beating fast at the possibility of escaping. That night, I waited patiently to take action. I waited until everything was quiet, I climbed the window and jumped down. It was not high from the ground. Immediately I jumped down, I walked in the dark towards the gate. How do I get past the gate? Luck smiled at me when I saw one of the guards at the gate. The gate was slightly open, a car had just driven through. He was about to close the gate when his phone rang. He left the gate open to answer the phone. Then I saw an opportunity. He moved from the gate facing a different direction and his back was turned to me. Quickly and quietly, I ran out of the mansion. I kept running until I got to the busy road. I stopped a cab and got in quickly. Then he drove off. I needed to act fast. I have some money left. I would have my parents out of the country by train. "What time is it?" I asked the driver. "8:45 P.M" Good enough time to get my mother from the hospital, It would be dangerous as she just had surgery. Staying behind to face Salvatore's rage is not an option. When I got home, I opened my purse and paid. The outside light was on, which meant my father was around. The moment I got in, a feeling of dread wound up my spine. "Father, are you in?" I checked his room but he was not there. I was about to go to the kitchen to check on him when a shadow passed. I became scared. Then I ran to the kitchen, I stood in shock. Lying on the floor was my father. Blood was gushing out of his mouth, he made feeble attempts to say something. "Father, what happened to you?" I ran to him. He managed a feeble whisper. "S S S Salvatore." Right in my arms, my father died. I screamed like never before. "No!!!!!!"
