ONCE UPON THE LIFE OF THE WISE KING Volume 2 The Fall of The Royal Family Chapter 26 - The Second Prince Sneaked Out Back into the Medical Ward, Queen Cielisse rested on her bed. Her husband sat beside her and the Holy Priestess took the chair on the other side. The King Wenhart gestured to Priestess Bhavisha to have some fruits from the fruit basket that was on top of the bedside table. "Thank you, Your Majesty," the Priestess thanked the King as she took an apple and took a bite. Once she swallowed the fruit, she spoke, "Prince Luciel. You don't have to worry about him. I can feel that he will grow healthy. Also, his majika is infinite." "Infinite!?" Both the King and the Queen were taken aback. "How can it be?" King Wenhart asked. "Remember that piece of black firestone Her Majesty has?" At the mention of the black firestone, Queen Cielisse looked down on her necklace. There were cracks on the pendant. Priestess Bhavisha noticed this, and she said, "As you can see, there are cracks on the black firestone. That means it lost its majika. To be more precise, the majika is transferred to Prince Luciel. As an heir who has infinite majika, he will become the most powerful, but it comes with a price and that is his life will always be in danger." They were silent for a while before the Priestess added, "That is why you must hide his real identity at all cost until he is ready." "We know." King Wenhart nodded his head. Queen Cielisse seemed to realize something as her face took on a sudden frown. Looking up at the Priestess, she spoke her doubts. She said, "Now that the source of all majika became my son when he is gone, then does that mean the majika as well?" At this question, the King remembered the prophecy Priestess Bhavisha told him before. The prophecy where the majika was gone. Priestess Bhavisha stared at the King quietly, knowing what he was thinking. "It does not mean that way. Majika will simply find another suitable host. Maybe, just like the Third Prince, majika would transfer to another person." "Oh, I see." "Yes, so you don't have to worry about that." The Royal couple were relieved. Priestess Bhavisha stood from her chair. She slowly walked around the bed and to the window that reached both ceiling and floor. She looked outside through the window. Down below, she saw the First Prince teaching his younger brother sword-fighting using sticks. "Are you going to tell your sons about the Third Prince?" she asked. The Royal couple shared a look. "Well, we want to, but I don't know how to disclose this to them. Especially, Colin," the Queen said softly. King Wenhart embraced his wife to comfort her. "I can tell the kid got a strong heart. He may feel inferior sometimes, but please don't underestimate him." Priestess Bhavisha turned to the Royal couple. "I believe he can be a great protector." She smiled. Later at night when everyone except the patrolling palace guards was asleep. Prince Alphonse woke up. His blanket slid down as he sat up. Looking left and right, he found his stick that he used to fight with his brother earlier. Suddenly, he took on a determined face. He pulled off his blanket and jumped down from the bed. Prince Alphonse took the stick off the floor and said, "Protect brother." Then, he walked to the door and tried to reach the knob. When he failed, he pouted. But he did not give up. He turned back and looked around his room, trying to see if he can use something to help him with his problem. At the farther left corner, he saw his stool. His eyes brightened up upon seeing it, and he quickly let go of his stick and ran to get the stool. The stool was light, therefore, it was easy for Prince Alphonse to push it near the door, creating a screeching noise as the four legs of the stool scraped the floor. Prince Alphonse climbed up the stool, reached the knob, and opened the door with a soft click. He then jumped down, and push the stool aside. Bending down, he picked up his stick, pushed the door open, and ran outside. The Second Prince did not know the way to the nursery as it was his first time that morning to go there. Nonetheless, it did not deter him from his goal. Surprisingly, the palace guards did not see him. It was either they did not cross the same path at the same time or that, he was too small to notice as he crawled and coupled with the poor lighting. Prince Alphonse had been looking for his baby brother for so long but he did not find him. He was about to cry. But even so, he continued searching until he stumbled at the nursery. His eyes immediately sparkled at the sight of the nursery. He was filled with excitement as he reached his goal. Quickly, he ran towards the glass and stuck his face on it. "Baby brother. I protect you," the Second Prince whispered to the sleeping baby in the incubator. Then, he sat in front of it and later fell asleep. After an hour, a patrolling palace guard found the Second Prince curled in front of the nursery with a stick in his embrace. "His Highness must be worried of the Third Prince." The palace guard smiled. He bent down and picked up the young Prince. "It is cold here. We must return to your room, Your Highness." With that said, the palace guard returned the Second Prince to his room. The next morning, Prince Alphonse woke up in confusion. He remembered he went to look for his baby brother because he wanted to protect him. But, when he woke up he was back in his room. It really made him so confused that he was daze the entire morning until he visited the nursery with his older brother, Prince Colin. "What has gotten to you? You were daze just." Prince Colin chuckled. Prince Alphonse moved in his brother's arm. He turned to look at the First Prince and told him, "I protect baby." Chuckling again, Prince Colin replied, "I know, I know. We will love and protect him with all our heart." Prince Alphonse could not agree more.
