ONCE UPON THE LIFE OF THE WISE KING
Volume 2
The Fall of The Royal Family
Chapter 29 - The Brightest Light
Lady Alyssa sulked in the corner. She was embarrassed because of what happened earlier, and at the same time guilty. She was not able to say sorry to the Second Prince that she accidentally hurt.
"Hey."
The young lady looked up to see a young man standing in front of her. It was Leo. He was holding a plate of desserts.
"What?" lady Alyssa grumbled.
"Are you crying?"
"No, I am not."
"I heard you said you are Prince Colin's fiance?" Leo asked as he munched on his desserts.
"Can you speak after swallowing? I can't understand you otherwise!"
Leo swallowed the food as he was told and asked again, "Are you Prince Colin's fiance?"
"Yeah, what? You have something to say!?"
Taken aback, Leo scratched his head. "Uhm, I never heard he had a fian-"
"Well, he has now."
Leo got quiet. He never had any experience on comforting a crying lady. All he knew was that, when he was feeling sad he would eat his sorrows away. Thinking this way, Leo offered his plate of desserts. "Here, take this. Don't cry now."
Lady Alyssa sniffled one last time. She looked up at Leo with bright, sparkling eyes. It seemed her embarrassment and sadness melted away as she took the plate given to her. "Th-thank you," she stammered, and moved aside as Leo sat beside her. She began munching on the desserts quietly. "It is delicious," she said in a low voice.
"I'm glad you like it." Leo grinned.
Upstairs, Prince Colin had just finished applying cream on Prince Alphonse' cheeks where he was accidentally hit by the young lady. "How is it? Feel any more pain?"
The Second Prince shook his head. "Want to go see baby, brother."
"Okay. Let us go look for him." The First Prince picked up his brother and carried him. Placing the cream on the nightstand, he made his way out of his room, closing the door behind him. They passed by the long corridor, went downstairs, and searched for their parents.
The music finished playing, and the dancers on the floor dispersed as they go to their own circle. Prince Colin looked left and right when he saw lady Alyssa jumping on Leo. Looks like she found another fiance. He thought with a sigh of relief. He never wanted to get close to the young lady again.
"Brother, look! Look!" Prince Alphonse shook his older brother's shoulders, and pointed to the direction of their parents who were talking with other noblemen.
Prince Colin sauntered toward his parent. "Please excuse me," he said, "My brother wants to play with youngest brother."
Their youngest brother, who was celebrating his first birthday, was in his mother's arms. He turned his head and saw his older brothers, and he immediately leaned forward. "Bro," he said quietly.
The noblemen bowed their heads at the princes.
Queen Cielisse heaved a sigh. "I have been carrying this young man here for hours. He would not go to his father even. My arms are getting tired as well," she complained to her eldest son. "It seems he is close to you guys, so here. Take him, too." She handed the boy to Prince Colin who now had two boys in both arms.
"Guh, they are heavy..."
The First Prince struggled with the two boys who were laughing at his comical face. He wanted to put them down but they clung on his neck, choking him. This scene made the Royal couple laugh as we as the nearby nobles.
"Baby! Big brother will tell you how powerful dad is!" the Second Prince proclaimed.
"Really?"
"Yes!" Turning to his older brother, he asked, "Brother, can we go there?" He pointed to the balcony where the King and Queen made announces.
"Okay."
Once they got at the balcony, the Second Prince jumped down from his brother's arms. Prince Colin let the youngest child down and watched the two of them.
Prince Alphonse told the story about their father being the strongest King and that someday, one of them will be as strong as him as well. He also told how their father cast a bright light to the sky, describing that there were sparkling dust everywhere with matching poses.
"This?" Prince Luciel asked as he raised his right arm with his palm facing forward.
"Hm-mm!" Prince Alphonse nodded. "And then, father said that if you close your eyes, try to feel the energy around you. Pull to your hand, and scream Majika Release!" He waved his hands up. "That is it!"
"Okay!" Prince Luciel nodded with determination and closed his eyes.
Prince Colin's smile never disappeared from his face as he listen to the children's interaction. He was happy that the Second Prince learned to teach well.
"Majika Release!" the Third Prince yelled.
They thought that nothing would happen since he was only a one year old child who did not start his lessons yet. He may be the heir and can control majika like their father but it was impossible for him to use it at his age. However, they dis not expect that all of a sudden, a very tiny white ball came out of Prince Luciel's hand and it shoot upwards to the sky where it exploded the brightest light in history of their kingdom.
The light was so brigth that it blinded even the people inside the palace. Prince Colin was worried about his siblings, so he quickly took them in his arms and protected them with his body. The people in town who were all outside of their houses to feast were baffled as to what happened. They were enjoying the food buffet when all of a sudden, everything turned so bright that it blinded them.
The bright light also affected the Holy Priestess' residence. They had to stop whatever they do or they will bump to each other as they were blinded as well.
Not only the Luciel Kingdom was affected. Even the neighboring nation also saw it from a very faw distance. Even though it was so far away from them, they can feel its enormous energy amd even looking at its direction can cause blindness to anyone who looked.
