ONCE UPON THE LIFE OF THE WISE KING Volume 2 The Fall of The Royal Family Chapter 30 - The Life of Azazel A man wearing black combat shoes, a pair of khaki pants with steel plates on his hips, dark gray long sleeves, and steel gauntlets. On his back were two swords strapped across his torso. He was standing among men with similar attire. He ruffled his silky black hair, looked over his right shoulder, and spoke, "When are we going to set out?" Behind him was a man with dark brown hair that reached just below his jaw. His eyes shone brightly as he walked toward the black-haired man. He swung his left arm on the black-haired man, and said, "Why? Are you excited to get to our new home, Azazel?" The group of men set out to find a new place. After the civil war, each side had lost its leaders. Without their leader, there was no point in fighting. As a result, both parties decided to divide the land. Base on the number of survivors on each side, the party that had the most survivors got the privilege to choose the better land while the other party got the land infested by monsters. "Why are we so unlucky to get this monster-filled land?" the black-haired man named Azazel grumbled. Beside him, the man with dark brown hair only laughed at him. "We lost to them, so let us just make use of this part of the land and build our new nation here." The men started their journey to their new land, leaving their family members in their temporary settlement as their destination was dangerous. They need to clean up the land before they could take their families there. The journey was long. It would take them at least 10 days before they reach their destination. Along the way, at first, it was quite peaceful. They did not encounter any danger. However, as they got closer, they started to see monsters. Some monsters were pretty harmless, but as they went on, monsters started attacking them. "Is there no end to them!?" Azazel exclaimed as he defended himself against a monster. Looking back, he saw another monster that was about to attack someone from behind. "Luciel!!! Watch out!" He rushed to the man's side and pushed him out, taking the attack of the monster. The man, Luciel, who got pushed, fell on his side. He saw Azazel taking the monster attack. He quickly got on his feet and helped him. He stabbed the monster on its back and sliced through its body. Then, he helped Azazel on his feet. "Thanks for your help. I think that's the last of them," Luciel said. "No," Azazel said without looking at Luciel. His focus was behind him where another batch of monsters, different from what they first encountered, emerged. The monsters were bigger and more hideous. They were salivating as though they had not eaten for months, which could be possible. Slowly, the men gathered together. Their backs were facing each other as they did not stray their eyes away from the monsters that seemed to watch their prey. The monsters slowly moved forward and surrounded the men. Then, one of the monsters jumped at them. The man was not prepared, so when the monster jumped on him, he was surprised that he failed to react. Fortunately, Azazel saved him. Then, other monsters also jumped on them. They were already exhausted but they need to protect one another or they will lose another comrade again. Once again, they fought another batch of more vicious monsters. They were almost defeated as the monsters were stronger and they were already exhausted from their previous fight. However, the monsters did not have intelligence. The men easily divided the monsters and fought them. Eventually, they managed to kill all of them. After a couple of days, they arrived at their destination. From up above, they saw the various types of monsters walking the land. No one knew the origin of the monsters. Based on hearsay, the monsters used to be normal animals until a meteorite hit the land and caused the animals to mutate, resulting in what they were now. While they were observing the monsters so they could plan on what to do next before descending, there was a sudden roar from behind. They looked back to see three monsters rushing to them. The monsters jumped and went for a strike, but their attacks were blocked and the men fought against them. As they were fighting, one of the monsters attack Luciel, who was fighting another monster. Luciel had no time to dodge or defend himself. The monster hit him on his chest, and he fell off the cliff. "Luciel!!!" Azazel screamed. He pushed the monster away from him and ran towards the cliff. The forest below was dense that he could not see his comrade. "We have to get down now!" Luciel on the other hand found himself inside a cave. He grunted as he pushed himself to sit. He then realized that there was light coming from above. Looking up, he concluded that he fell in the cave. He stood up, dusted himself, and started walking forward to look for a way out as it was difficult to climb up back. Later on, as he went farther inside, Luciel started feeling strange. It seemed like something was pulling him in. He was skeptical about it, but for some reason, he could not stop himself from going in the direction he felt the pull. Eventually, he arrived at the part of cave that seemed to be a huge crate covered by rocks, forming a dome. In the middle was a black stone, the size of a man's fist. Luciel slowly made his way inside. He can feel that it was the stone that was pulling him in. He bent down and picked up the stone. "Wait," he spoke as he realized the danger of picking up unusual things. He looked around him, feeling his surroundings, as if waiting for the rocks to fall on him, but nothing happened. Shrugging his shoulders, he pocketed the stone and walked out of the dome to look for an exit.
